The BBC is reporting that East Midlands Airport is currently closed due to an incident involving a cargo aircraft. The airport is closed and it is not known when the airport will re-open.

It is believed the landing gear of a 737 cargo plane failed after landing.

At least Air Contractors did not do what TNT did a few years ago (if you recall they attempted a landing at EMA and dropped part of the main gear whilst trying to land and then continued over to BHX and finished the job there by closing the runway for a day!!). I still never found out if EMA charged them a landing fee or not (did they leave enough of the frame there to qualify for a landing fee?). Have not seen too many diversions here at BHX so I was wondering where everyone went to?

DHL B767-300F G-DHLE operating DHK973 has been holding at 33,000ft east of MAN, and Swiftair EMB has been holding at 15,000ft south of EMA.

G-DHLH operating DHK973 from JFK has just joined it at 34k and a BMR135 from BRU seems to have joined the Swiftair.

Their website says it still is. One of the DHL's is now heading out to sea over Skegness and the Swift Air is heading south, also a UPS 763F has joined the other DHL holding over Liverpool.

The Swift Air went to Luton, the first DHL went to Brussels with the second heading that way, the UPS went to Stansted and the BMR and Star Air are still holding over Leicester.

Was that cargo plane operated by Deutsche Post and DHL/
Is it a fair assumption that the tyres were under an excess load and failed?

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
