Im Ryanair staff. Just before covid they were looking at increasing flights in EXT and BRS.

just a question - do the WG still contribute for the Qatar route?

I know that FR have been looking for reasons to pull out from CWL and I think this might just be the cherry on the cake.
Why would they need a reason? If they wanted to pull out they would. Instead they have flights onsale not just for the winter but next summer as well.

Unfortunately I think the WG’s ill judged (read incompetent) intervention will have set back the FR relationship.

I don’t understand what expanding at Exeter and Bristol has to do with leaving Cardiff? Most of the routeS are duplicated across all 3 already. Ryanair don’t look for reasons to leave, they just go.

Would not be the first time that Ryanair have fallen out with the airport. With one hand the airport team are trying to encourage the airline to increase its presence at the airport yet the incompetent mob in Cardiff Bay are doing their utmost to frustrate the airport team.

Who says that they have fallen out? The WG asked them not to operate the flights on Friday. Ryanair said no we will operate. Its hardly a falling out.
I think people are over reacting to the whole thing.

Agree with you Jerry, a bit of hysteria going on here. CWL was doing ok this time last year, but Thomas Cook and Flybe was a bigger blow at Cardiff than most other UK airports, on top of that covid. I wonder what the evidence is regarding Ryanair WANTING to find a reason to pull out of CWL, or is it just hearsay and possibly wishful thinking of those people who do not want CWL to thrive for whatever reason?

It's probably Chinese whispers from when FR pulled off the TFS, which wasn't actually anything to do with CWL. FR go where the money is and the deals are. The WG spouting off isn't going to cause them to pull out as there's no money involved in the WG's request. Now if the WG pulled any kind of deal or funding related to FR as a result, or fined them in some way (Which i don't think would even be possible), then undoubtedly FR will threaten to pull the plug.

Interestingly there are 136 seats taken on the seatmap for CWL-AGP and 82 taken for CWL-FAO on Friday. With at least 30+ hours before each flight still plenty of time for more people to check-in. There is the possibility that a number of people won't show up that have reserved seats, but ultimately as the flight is still operating they may not get their money back which FR get to keep depending on whether FCO travel advice changes or not with regards to being able to obtain refunds. It's not surprising FR want to continue operating the flights.

With the potential of Southend, Bournemouth and Leeds possibly losing their Ryanair base part of me is wondering if CWL not being able to attract a Ryanair base might more be a blessing now. Maybe in the long term having them build up a non based route network might make the airport less vunerable to shocks?

I do fear for CWL and the Ryanair routes. With a hint of possable 4 base airports to close in the UK is bad news.As we know FR do things that we never think about, but i do fear about services that are not based at which ever airport that they will start cutting routes. FR are getting rid of aircraft so in the end will it impact on airports that are not a based airport.Something like that will have to be kept a eye on. For CWL to become a base is miles away, but i do hope they keep the routes they have now,but extra non based routes will have to be worked at very hard. In this day and age routes drop easy, but when trying to extend services is a different matter. This virus has a lot to answer for.

So I wonder if Dripford and Guessing were outside CWL this morning checking people’s home addresses ?? Haha

There is a lot of speculation, rumour and gossip around Ryanair at Cardiff, nobody really knows what is going to happen, so lets wait and see.
I dont understand the feelings by some members on an anti WG views on travel at the moment.
yes Mark Drakeford is not the most dynamic of politician but i would rather this pandemic be handled in a
honest and careful way,not rushing things which could backfire and cause another total lockdown. I like everyone wants to be able to open up more and get away on holidays ( i was booked to go in April from CWL).

Agree about pandemic but it makes no sense to deviate from the policy in England when people can move freely across the border.

As for anti WG sentiment we’ll have to agree to differ as I think they are totally useless and the amount of money devolution and forming a parish council with umpteen levels of bureaucracy - I think the money could be spent better elsewhere on NHS and hospitals for the value they add. Anyway politics is off topic.

Wales and England are different countries though so will have different approaches. I think this pandemic has made a lot of people actually realise that Wales is different from England and has it's own laws and different rules and that it can make it's own decisions during a crisis like this pandemic and can do things differently than England.
As for Ryanair, Faro and Malta are onsale for Summer 2021 and winter with Malta we are just waiting for Barcelona and Malaga to go onsale. Fingers crossed they'll go onsale sooner rather than later.

As i said, Lets wait and see with Ryanair and any potential other airlines. This is an aviation forum (i hope) .

It is an aviation forum and I want to see a WG aggressively promoting their investments. IMHO QR won’t be back and FR will now think twice about a benign aviation environment in Wales. Just my opinion.

"Clean, safe and secure. That is how one of the passengers on the first flight from Spain to @Cardiff_Airport since lockdown described his experience."

Good. That’s how it’s going to have to be moving forward. This virus may never go away and we’ll just have to crack on best we can. Safe and Sensible.

Watched the Ryanair flight to malaga depart this morning and it rotated quite late so hopefully it might have had a good load.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
