Many thanks David. There's a lot to digest.
The fall in Ord from 2006/2007 is striking but I'm sure there are many significant growth destinations too - like EK and EY for example.
More study required!

Memory fails me, who did we have operating to Rio in 2004? 2500 pax is a few flights!

The punctuality stats say 2 flights for Britannia, 4 for My Travel and 2 for Thomas Cook. Don't know the reason why unless there were cruises from there in that year?

Just got round to looking at these. Will try and digest and comment later today.

Looking at some of the stats, and I am sure some of this will be old ground, it remains astonishing how far Chicago has fallen. Particularly as it does not appear to be impacted by the introduction of another competing transfer hub (I am aware of BMI withdrawing).

I suppose it is linked to DUB in some way, but a USPBC must help to tip the balance if AA and UA wanted to make an impact?

Atlanta, which still seems a strong route, is significantly down from its peak. I doubt it will reach that peak any time soon due to the spread of the VS network, but it is interesting nevertheless.

Singapore's decline can be related to the growth of the MEB3. I hope they can claw back some share of a growing market to approach 2008 levels. Perhaps the opportunity to expand on IAH will materialise.

Perhaps Toronto can continue to build on the steady growth of the past few years.

Let's hope the rumours in the last 24 hours are not true, will be a very big dent in the pax figures if this happens. Will also affect LBA/LTN/LGW/BHX........

I've never heard of an airline planning for its own demise in this way, but it's odd how the schedules match. But why 744s? I'd imagine there's plenty of spare right sized capacity available at this time of year. Also, said airline had very recently announced new routes while also planning to shut down? Surely can't be right?

It's not the airline it is preparing, it's the CAA. Did a similar thing when XL were about to go.

Just a quick heads up right now Monarch has just three scheduled departures from the UK left today to Ibiza from Manchester/Gatwick and Birmingham. If these leave on time and back over night by 7.30am ALL the fleet should back in the UK real tragedy emerging if true.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
