It’s hard to believe that in2007/8 the airport had a number of based summer aircraft - Thomson (3.5 I think including part based LH), First Choice x1, MyTravel x2, Excel x1, bmibaby x 3, Zoom to Toronto and Vancouver, KLM and other stuff and over 2m pax. How things have changed....

It's hard to believe only a year ago Cardiff had 9 based/overnight aircraft and a daily LH flight!

and Air Wales !
Air Wales went out of business in April 2006. They would certainly be handy now with their ATR42s.

In their last full summer (2005) Air Wales operated from CWL to Aberdeen, Dublin (against Ryanair), Liverpool, Newcastle, Norwich and Plymouth. In addition they operated these routes on behalf of bmibaby: Belfast International, Cork, Paris CDG and Prestwick.

But will I be able to fly on the 11th ?
To fly on the 11th depends who the airline is and also where you flying to,as a lot of countries are slower than others in opening up.I should keep an eye on things, but dont ask for a refund yet. Make the airline make the first move regarding that one.

On te loal west news tonigt was a report on BA 747 aircraft at Kemble stored. There is 12 b747 there with another 3 due in the next few days. The guy they interviewed said they did not expect any of them to fly again,as they would scrap them there. Time will tell on that one.

There are rumours that training and recency for B747 has been suspended at British Airways.

it could be that the B744 at Kemble are the ones for the chop meanwhile the ones at Cardiff may return to service for a short while.

I saw an article on YouTube a few days ago and the latest 747 to arrive at Kemble was the last 747 belonging to Corsair of France for scrapping.

Agree about pandemic but it makes no sense to deviate from the policy in England when people can move freely across the border.

As for anti WG sentiment we’ll have to agree to differ as I think they are totally useless and the amount of money devolution and forming a parish council with umpteen levels of bureaucracy - I think the money could be spent better elsewhere on NHS and hospitals for the value they add. Anyway politics is off topic.
First question why shouldn't Wales govern itself even as part of the UK?
Wales is a country after all unless you think Wales should be a region of England?
Second question why do you assume that if the Senedd was abolished that things like the NHS would get extra money? Without the Senedd Wales would just be western England as far as the UK government is concerned.

And thirdly why do you think your life and the people of Wales life would be better off with direct rule?

And fourthly would you then get rid of all Welsh national sports teams and require our national sports people to have to play for England to play international sport?

I see a lot of the covid 19 rules are being taken away today. The most important thing being relaxed is the 5 mile rule. This should help the airport. There is a few other lock down being relaxed from to day as well.So hope people respect the lockdown rules that has been taken away,as we dont want lockdown in force again, the same in England. Time will tell.

Bristol city got beaten last saturday by Cardiff city by 1 goal to nil. After the game the Bristol manager got sacked,as they have not been doing very well lately.

All very well the 5 mile travel rule being relaxed. The one other main obstacle is the 14 day quarantine on arrival into Wales. Being relaxed by England but at the moment we don’t know if Wales is joining them.
All very muddled. If Wales keeps quarantine it presumably means that anyone living in Wales who comes into the UK through an English airport (and through CWL) will have to quarantine when they reach home but anyone coming into CWL who lives in England won't. Furthermore, with the five-mle travel rule being relaxed it seems that people can travel into Wales from England and go around the country at will, and vice versa.

The WG, Scottish Government and UK Gvernment really have to get their acts together and sing from the same song sheet. N Ireland is slightly different in that it is separated from the rest of the UK by sea and also has a land border with a foreign state.

M4 problems 'influenced' Ineos 4x4 vehicle plant's suspension https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-politics-53336549
Strange how the M4 scrapping announcement was in June 2019
And if it was a big deal why did Ineos announce the factory in September 2019?
Reality is that they've just got a better offer
What it does show is that they really need to start investing in homegrown companies.

I think what people will find is now up to the Senedd election everything economically will be blamed on the M4 relief road not happening because the conservatives want to make the election all about that to get people to vote for them.

If the Tories were serious about boosting Wales they'd invest in rail. They'd electrify to Swansea, build a Cardiff to Holyhead line through the heart of Wales and carry it on to Dublin with a tunnel or train ferry. They'd invest in Welsh ports and ferry links from Swansea to Cork and to France. And they'd give the WG more powers to invest in the Welsh economy.

If the Tories were serious about growth in Wales they would find a way to get rid of devolution and the WG (imho of course).

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
