I am all for the union and UK government must and should accept the UK has four equal parts
That will never happen because the reality is Westminster will never see the other nations as equal as it's primary goal is the domination of the British Isles by southern England in particular.
With regards to Mark, i don’t think he’ll lose his seat but his time as first minister will be up. There are a lot of unhappy people in wales currently.
I expect Labour will be the largest party and he'll be party leader so most likely FM for at least half a term anyway as he said he'd step down midway. Guess it depends what sort of deals are done.

Hopefully not. I think the current administration is a terrible one. Carwyn Jones did much better and he was nothing special.

Wales is predominantly a tory nation now, as proven at GE 2019. The South Wales valleys are the last stand.

That's simply not true. They hold only 14 out of 40 seats in Westminster currently 11 out of 60 seats in the Senedd. Wales consistently votes for left wing leaning parties and before that the Liberals. Yes the Tories made gains but that was likely down to Brexit but even then they are still a minority party. They are predicted to make gains in the Senedd by attracting the ukip abolish vote.
Apparently there's a new Welsh political poll out next week. That should be interesting!

The great Welsh rugby player J J Williams has died. He played for Wales and the lions, and his club rugby was with Llanelli. He was 72 years old. A great player in his day.
Very sad news. Indeed he was a great player and he was playing during one of the great periods for Welsh rugby.

I watched JJ more than once playing for Llanelli against Bristol at the Memorial Ground in the pre-leagues era.

Sincere condolences to his loved ones. RIP.

That is really sad news! He's definitely one of the greatest rugby players Wales will ever produce :(

So it's likely when Wales comes out of lockdown on 9th November England will be in one.

I just get the feeling if we do go into lock down then Wales,Scotland and Northern Ireland will come into line so we all in lock down. Lots of strange things happening with this virus. We should know more this afternoon at 4pm as prime minister on tv and making a statement.I must say its looking bad all the way round.

I don't think that will happen and if England was in lockdown the other countries wouldn't need to really.
Judging by what's been leaked all international outbound travel from England with the exception of work will be banned. As its an England only announcement I don't think that will include airports in Wales Scotland and NI.

I think this shows how much the pandemic is fueling the campaign for Welsh independence. YesCymru the non partisan grass roots campaign for Welsh independence has seen it's membership sky rocket and achieved the 10,000 members mark today. Something is definitely changing in Wales.

Not helped by the UK’s furlough mistake no doubt. Which Is shocking and gives the impression the government only cares about Southern England.

Although 10,000 people is only slightly more than the population of Llantwit Major. I won’t be worrying about yes cymru and having to make the move to England just yet.

Roughly 1 in 300 of the Welsh population are now members. That'll give YesCymru more financial clout for getting their message across and increasing their profile across the country.
As for moving to England I suppose that will be a personal decision that many unionists especially the more fanatical one's who don't like Welsh democracy, will have to make as will Welsh people living in England.

I have no problem with Welsh democracy, I just don’t like the party who’s currently running the devolved administration as it’s a joke. Welsh Indy’s seem determined to get independence, regardless of the cost (same arguments apply for leaving the EU and we know what disaster that’s going to be).

I’d probably choose to move to England as i see independence prospects for Wales quite poor and I don’t want to be taxed to kingdom come.

You could say the same about unionists who despite all the evidence especially during the pandemic of how the union isn't working for Wales and will no doubt stunt any recovery.
To me and many other pro indy supporter's Wales being independent is Wales finally becoming a normal country. Independence is normal. It's also about having the ability to make the lives of its people better and concentrate on it's priorities.
Cardiff Airport is just a minute example of how the union hamstrings Wales. The WG doesn't have the ability to cut or scrap APD which could make it more attractive to airlines especially on routes that are marginal.
As for taxes no one knows what the tax regime will be as that is decided by governments depending on their fiscal priorities but at the moment Wales tax revenue per head is higher than New Zealand and Wales isn't an independent country.

When England goes into lock down and Wales come out, there will be no travel between England and Wales and vica versa so the Welsh minister has just said. The only exception will be where people work and live.I cant get the head round why we all did not go into lock down togeather, like it will be now will cofuse a lot of people both sides of the severn. Its looking bleak for christmas with people with young families. Christmas dont worry me as im on my own and it means just another day of lonely ness.

I don't see how don't travel to another country is confusing? Is being unable to travel to Ireland unless it's for work confusing?

I think there are large chunks of southern England where not everyone who lives there would agree with the idea that the government only cares about the southern part of the country, the whole of the southern part of the country that is - the rural and semi-rural areas of Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Wiltshire and Somerset for starters.

As with Wales being so often disregarded and lumped with England in so many things, so too is the peripheral and far from economically vibrant South West England (apart from one or two city sub-regions) not considered when northern politicians and northern business people talk about the 'North and South divide'.

Their priority is mainly south east England. Always will be.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
