Wales will be playing South Africa in Washington DC on 2nd June ahead of travelling to Argentina for a 2 match tour where they will play the Pumas in San Juan and Sante Fe on successive weekneds. The evening fixture will be played at the RFK Stadium which is home to DC United and Washington Redskins. Coincidence that the Washington Redskins owner landed briefly at Bristol yesterday?

Just seen the Visit Wales Year if the Sea advert. The Welsh coastline looks stunning!

Saw this one On TV. Fantastic video and nice to see visit Wales get their act together.

Perhaps I'm just synical but there was a few years where they didn't seem to be doing anything.

It is fascinating. Thanks for that, Jerry. The pictures in the linked article regarding the LLandow disaster are particularly poignant showing the doomed passengers boarding the aircraft in obvious good spirits after the international match in Ireland.

The Avro Tudors (derivative of the Lincoln bomber) had a chequered history with two operated by British South American Airways disappearing in the Western Atlantic in the late 1940s - I've read a couple of books on the subject in the past. This disaster was put down to incorrect loading. The aircraft interior was stripped to allow six additional passengers to make the trip and, ironically, it seems that two of the three survivors (80 were killed and at the time was the worst aviation crash in history in terms of lost lives) were sitting on temporary seats.

Yeah such a sad tragedy, i'm not sure but it may be still Wales's worst aviation tragedy.
With the article i have noticed now that they missed out Swansea airport and Anglesey as well.

Thank goodness there are no others in Wales anywhere near this magnitude. The worst aviation disaster in the UK is the one involving a BEA Trdent in 1972 when the aircraft crashed at Staines shortly after taking off from Heathrow. All 118 people on board were killed.

Cardiff City FC

It's looking increasingly likely that The Bluebirds will be in the Premier League next season. If the other birds further west manage to avoid relegation, and that too is looking increadingly likely, it will be the first time that Wales has had two clubs in the top tier at the same time.

I'm not a big fan of Colin or of his style of play, but you have to admit he has an excellent record keeping clubs up and getting them into the Prem.

The Premier League has a worldwide tv audience and puts its clubs and their cities and towns into international focus. Furthermore, with both Cardiff and Swansea Cities in the Prem CWL will see even more football-related flights.

Correct me if i'm wrong but i'm sure Swansea and Cardiff have been in the premier league at the same time. Cardiff briefly went up a few years back didn't they?

Cardiff City and Swansea City were in the Premier League together in 2013/14 i believe Cardiff went straight down again and that's the only time they've been in the top flight together i believe. If they do go up the derby games will be interesting! I remember last time the police had to man every overbridge on the motorway between Swansea and Cardiff just to make sure no idiot dropped stuff onto the Swansea fan coaches heading to Cardiff.

And fingers crossed Cardiff Blues will be in the Champions Cup for the first time next season as well!

You're absolutely right. Swans went up in 2010-2011. Bluebirds two years later for the one season in the Prem. I can't believe Swans have been in the top tier that long. They've done incredibly well.

Sorry about the incorrect information. Anyway, it looks as though history might be repeated - this time for a longer stay together.

It'll be good for the whole area if both team's can be in it with good exposure not only in the US but Far East as well for the country. Hopefully as well Cardiff can avoid the shenanigans of last time and Neil Warnock can keep them up.

With Qatar becoming the world football focus after this year and with the Premier League having such a high profile around the world, having two clubs in the Prem wouldn't do any harm to the Qatar Airways service at CWL; in fact, it ought to benefit from the situation.

Well done to Wales for beating the French. A good close game, but a little nervy towards the end of game.

I didn't see anything of the games today but I see England lost again. It's incredible how such a dominant side since Jones took over has been so inept this season. I suppose the Southern Hemisphere nations will be favourites for the next World Cup. Don't look beyond New Zealand? Especially in Japan.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
