Simon Hart the UK government Welsh Secretary is calling for a referendum on a bigger Senedd. Maybe they should add in questions about more powers at the same time and whether Wales should lose 8 MPs at Westminster as well.

I think a public vote is sensible to be honest. We had one for changing the UK voting system, so it is appropriate.

I don’t think Wales should be losing MP’s full stop, let alone having a referendum on it.

The voting system itself maybe. Give people a choice between PR and STV but the actual expansion of the Senedd was in 3 parties manifesto.
Good news.

And happy Jubilee to HM the queen, from all of us in Wales.
Yep he does deserve it though many Welsh football fans seem very upset about him excepting it.
I believe now that 2 of the biggest icons in Welsh sport him and Alun Wyn Jones now have been honoured.

I am not a fan of the voting system proposal, it may benefit the larger parties and prevent smaller parties, greens, reform, abolish and even the lib dems breaking through. That isn’t really a democracy to me.

I know Plaid wanted and still do want the introduction of Single Transferable Vote as does the Lib Dems but Labour had concerns about people being able to understand the system so wanted to introduce PR instead and the d'Hondt method is already used for the regional list hence the compromise. Personally i think it's a step in the right direction. People can vote for the party they want and their vote won't be potentially as wasted like with first past the post in many constituencies or they won't have to consider voting tactically either. It also i believe gets people used to the idea of multi member constituencies as well. It's not perfect yes but i do think it's a step in the right direction towards i hope STV in future.

Interesting suggestion from one of the Plaid Cymru MS.
"If Labour is not prepared to back independence now, then surely they can back a consultative referendum on Wales’ constitutional future."

New Secretary of State for Wales is Simon Buckland, born in Llanelli but is a Swindon MP. Will be interesting to see if the relationship between UK and Welsh governments become less toxic and more cooperative.

I'm surprised that the WG still want APD devolved personally with the climate change emergency.
“Specifically, in the short-term we would like to see Air Passenger Duty devolved"

It would be interesting to see if Cardiff will be in the running to host the Eurovision Song Contest next year. It has the venues, hotels etc. to hold major events. The only major point which will hold it back is the lack of international connectivity.

Well I guess people will argue if you can't arrive via Cardiff for an event like eurovision, Bristol isn't too far and you have Heathrow not that far away as well.

This is true but you may as well hold it in London or Bristol. Unfortunately, Cardiff will lose points due to this.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
