I am shocked that Ryanair actually decided on MAN and not go back home to Dublin for both Gatwick diversions!
FR118 /RYR86BT EI-DAK

FR2678 / RYR9AJ EI-DHF operating Copenhagen-LTN
BA2731 / BAW31T G-MIDO operating Tenerife-LGW

FR9078/RYR24DK EI-EBR operating Alicante-LBA
FR90/RYR90 EI-EBR operating Manchester-LBA

Prior to the Qatar landing, the previous 7 aircraft had all gone around once but this is the only one that's diverted (BA2154 landed on it's 3rd attempt)

Did easyJet cancel many flights at MAN yesterday? At BRS they pre-emptively cancelled everything after 1250 (19 return flights) whilst other airlines cancelled nothing at all during the entire day apart from Aer Lingus Regional when an inbound to BRS was diverted to MAN so the return to Ireland was cancelled.

Think Northern airports weren't affected as badly yesterday. Whereas most Southern airports had gusts up to 40kts, Manchester was mostly steady winds (certainly in the evening) and more importantly, more aligned with the runway there meaning little crosswinds.

Was too busy engrossed in the cricket to notice that VY8720 / VLG72LD EC-NAV operating Barcelona-DUB diverted in a couple of hours ago.

Had the pleasure of being there on the MSCP that Saturday morning. We accepted over 20 wide bodies in a little over 4 hours from about 06.30 plus a few other aircraft. Mainly LHR diversions including 4 x BA 747s - something of a novelty as BA ops were sometimes not too keen to accept diverts. 3 x United Airlines and a couple of QF among the rest as I recall. I think one of the last to arrive was a MEA 747.
I did make a log at the time but can't just locate it. David_itl may have a full list or better memory.

Those were the days indeed.

May have my log somewhere. From what i remember 20 747s were on the ground at the same time. Went with my brother to the airport as i as heard NIgeria Airways A310 5N-AUH on the radio

Didnt the Heavylift park Southside? I know some 747s were parked on the taxiways near ye olde FFV/FLS Aerospace hangar.

One big difference in those days was that the airport were prepared to park diverted aircraft on available stands at the terminal and not just remote. That policy changed some years ago.

I remember that day from a different perspective, I was living in Heston, right underneath the 27R approach and I was watching the big breakfast (I was on back shift at TBB that day), all I could hear were aircraft approaching and then spooling up and going around! it was a really thick fog outside...… Ahhhhhh memories..

We've had an EI and a RYR divert in from Dublin recently. A RYR went to LPL.
There are 2 more RYR heading east but not sure yet whether for LPL or MAN

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
