I didn't notice the Easyjet A320, I was watching the queues for STN and LTN building wondering if any would head up to BHX.

Cheers alphagolf.

The below is a copy of posts in the BHX thread today. Basically, it asks why FR 8207 from Budapest to BRS landed at BHX today. Does anyone know?

Not sure why but RYR8207 BUD-BRS is diverting to BHX.Other flights seem to be getting into BRS so I don't know what the problem is!!!

Looking at the BRS website it was due there at 12:40 but landed at BHX at 15:41, could it be an operational reason arising from the delay? Maybe TheLocalYokel knows more?

I don't know the reason unless it was weather related. It was quite dull and drizzly for much of today. Broadfield Down, the plateau on which BRS sits, is notorious for its own micro weather climate at times. Visibility can be down to 100 metres or less at the airport but a quarter of a mile away it can be half a mile or more.

Coincidentally, I was looking at FR24 at lunchtime for a few minutes - I'm not a regular visitor to FR24 - and I noticed a couple of recent landings at BRS showing quite complicated landing patterns as if they'd been put into circuits. I seem to recall the next aircraft due to land was the FR from Budapest which from memory was somewhere north of Bath so presumably had intended to land at BRS at that point.

The BRS arrivals page shows FR 8207 landing at 1541 .....from Birmingham!! The scheduled arrival tie was shown as 1240 which is its BUD arrival time. The departure at 1305 was shown as 'departed' but BRS never shows the actual departure times on its website only the scheduled time of departure.

divert saturday.
clifton 21 citation jet g - twop diverted to cwl, landed at 12 43 from guernsey. this divert was due weather in brs.

Friday 9 January 2015

The lunchtime Aer Lingus Regional Cork rotation was cancelled today.

The wind has been very strong for much of the afternoon and it's expected to carry on through the evening. Gusts of over 50 mph have been reported in the Bristol area. However, the direction seems to have been largely westerly or thereabouts meaning the cross wind component may not have been high. Thus far everything seems to have landed and departed.

Overnight Tuesday 13 January 2015 into Wednesday 14 January 2015

The BRS website carries this notice on its home page this evening: Due to weather forecasts, passengers flying from Bristol are advised to allow additional time for their journey to ensure they arrive in time to complete check-in, bag drop, security and boarding processes. Please also take extra care when travelling on the roads.

Some snow is forecast for this evening and overnight with suggestions of up to 10 cm on the Mendips.

Later tomorrow gales with gusts up to 75 mph are forecast for parts of the wider West Country area accompanied by heavy rain. The wind direction looks to be south westerly but more southerly than westerly at times which could produce high cross wind components.

Wednesday 14 January 2015

There was a light snow covering in the Bristol area this morning which is now all but gone by mid morning thanks to the winter sun.

Two cancellations this morning:

The early morning Brussels Airlines (operated by bmi regional) to/from Brussels and the early morning Aer Lingus Regional from/to Dublin.

Looking at the arrival page on the BRS website some aircraft are showing delays which suggests they may have left late on their outbound leg early this morning. The BRS departure page never shows actual time of departure, only the scheduled time with the word 'departed' once the aircraft has taken off.

Addendum 2200 hours 14/1/15

Teatime Blue Islands from/to Jersey cancelled as well - don't know reason. Tomorrow's morning rotation is already showing a delay of over two hours.

Everything else seems to have departed and landed today and there is only a handful left to come in now. It's very windy and wet this evening.

Saturday 17 January 2015

Two diversions this morning: easyJet A 319 from Edinburgh due 0945 went into Cardiff and Austrian A 320 from Innsbruck due 0850 went into Gatwick.

I read elsewhere that the reported reason was snow clearance at BRS. If it was it must have been a sudden and limited (in duration) snow shower because other aircraft before and after the diversions landed. I live about seven miles from BRS as the crow flies and we had no snow whatever.

Both aircraft subsequently landed at BRS - the easyJet at 1116 and the Austrian at 1120.

The snow started around 0530 and was on and off with a big dump around 0800, The KLM sat in the hold for a good hour before landing and the FR DUB was held on stand I beleave it was a few CM that had settled on the ground.

you are correct about ams rotation cancelled.
the rotations to quite a few airports europe wide were cancelled. the reason for this was very bad fog in ams. it was just about nil vis, so hence not a lot of movements for a time.

Wednesday 8 April 2015

As a result of the French ATC industrial action the following rotations were cancelled today:

easyJet Barcelona, Nice and Madrid

Ryanair Beziers

The French ATC people seem to go on strike every year. Is it for the same reasons? Do they ever achieve anything? Or is it the apparent French predilection for going on strike? I remember that Britain was called the 'Sick Man of Europe' in the 1970s for the tendency of unions to call a strike at the drop of a hat in those days. I suppose it would now be the Sick Person of Europe in these politically correct days.

Thursday 9 April 2015

More cancellations today re French ATC industrial action.

easyJet Nice, Toulouse, Faro (two rotations), Alicante (two rotations)

Ryanair Girona

I'm currently stuck in nice. Meant to come home today. Been told no available seats till Tuesday so I've have had to rebook with ba for tomorrow evening ( wife has to be back on work)

There are still some advantages of holidaying with package tour companies who would have found a way for you to get back home or at least foot the hotel bills while you're there.

Very sorry to hear that, Marko. It must be an absolute sickener.

Apart from the BRS cancellations today there were a lot of lengthy delays of several hours on other flights.

I was walking in the Wrington-Congresbury area and I saw only three inbound flights in over an hour during the late morning/early afternoon (two easyJet and the EIR from Cork).

3 flights diverted from Exeter on Thu night due to believe it or not fog. The entire country bathed in sunshine and high temp and Exeter has fog at 23:00 hrs on Thu night. Thick enough fog to divert 3 planes. Or did they want the planes in Bristol......

I'm surprised that three flights were due at EXT at that time of night. Their network isn't large and consists almost entirely of Flybe and one based TOM aircraft. Scilly Skybus also operates but not at that time of night and there is the occasional charter aircraft from other airlines.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
