ATC systems outage causing knock on effects to most of the KL operation. Guess the 1051 aircraft has stayed overnight to operate this morning
Thanks for that, Foxlimayankee.

KL 1057 due BRS from AMS this evening at 2145 is shown as cancelled as is the outbound KL 1046 to AMS from BRS at 0615 tomorrow morning.

Not a good couple of days for KLM and BRS although at least the other three rotations seemed to operate today.

Sunday 10 December 2017

It's been snowing pretty well consistently where I live about eight miles from BRS since around 1100 this morning. The good news is that it's fairly wet snow and there is no more than a light covering with the grass still poking though. BRS is about 200 feet higher than where I live but the boards are showing no diversions or cancellations that appear to relate directly to the airport. The below list of cancellations seems to be because there is weather disruption on the continent.

0835 KL 1049 from Amsterdam - 0905 KL 1050 to Amsterdam
1205 BM 1825 to Frankfurt - 1605 BM 1826 from Frankfurt
1320 BM 1863 to Dusseldorf - 1645 BM 1864 from Dusseldorf
1345 KL 1052 to Amsterdam*
1635 BM 1827 to Frankfurt - 2045 BM 1828 from Frankfurt
1650 BM 1846 from Munich - (1210 BM 1845 to Munich appears to have operated)
1650 KL 1053 from Amsterdam - 1720 KL 1054 to Amsterdam
1710 BM 1847 to Munich - 2140 BM 1848 from Munich
1805 EZY 6167 to Amsterdam - 2140 EZY 6168 from Amsterdam
2015 EZY 432 from Edinburgh - 2040 EZY 431 to Edinburgh
2145 KL 1057 from Amsterdam

* the inbound 1315 KL 1051 appears to have remained at BRS presumably to operate tomorrow's 0615 KL 1046 to Amsterdam which is currently shown as operating. Today's 0615 KL 1046 to Amsterdam operated.

One's just landed BA475 x BCN

2 are circling CWL ( Mad & ZRH)

ZAG just overflew LHR at 30k ft going due west

BOH just received 4 BA inbounds (TXL/LIN/PRG/NCE) is there room at BOH!?

Well worth a look on FR24

BA729 GVA looks like SOU or BOH
BA849 ZAG looks like CWL
BA701 could be CWL or BRS

Appears LHR is closed to inbounds, some heavies still departing
BA10 KUL went to LGW and the BA104 DXB is still at 33k ft heading south of LGW

BRS never seems to show diversions to it on its website arrivals board. There isn't likely to be a lot of available stand space anyway for too many diversions.

Monday 11 December 2017

Another difficult day with cancellations because of adverse weather on the continent.

Three of the four outbound KLM Amsterdam flights cancelled and three of the four inbound KLM Amsterdam also cancelled. The first outbound of the day operated as did the lunchtime inbound which, like yesterday, appears to have been kept at BRS to operate the first outbound of the day tomorrow.

The morning easyJet rotation to Amsterdam operated but the evening one was cancelled.

All three bmi regional Brussels rotations were cancelled today, as were the bmir Hamburg and bmir Aberdeen rotations.

What was the reason for all those KLM and Ams cancellations. Just the weather or more?

As far as I know it was the weather - AMS and other continental European airports badly affected by the snow.

Friday 15 December 2017

easyJet Venice rotation cancelled this afternoon. Presumably in connection with Italian ATC industria actionl.

easyJet's flights to/from Rome and Pisa operated as did bmi regional t/from Milan Malpensa.

Bristol Airport have just tweeted this:

Due to technical problems with airfield equipment required in low visibility, inbound flights are currently being delayed or diverted. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused today and we will keep you updated when we have any further information.

Sunday 17 December 2017

ILS problems at BRS this evening.

Flights affected include:

easyJet from Rome diverted Gatwick, Viennia diverted Exeter, Belfast Int diverted Birmingham, Bilbao diverted Gatwick, Toulouse diverted Birmingham, Isle of Man cancelled, Amsterdam cancelled, Edinburgh cancelled, Basel cancelled, bmir Hamburg cancelled.

Looks like todays RYR from VCE diverted to EMA because of fog in BRS. Luckily the CGN flight arrived as I’m on the outbound which is leaving on time. Full flight too which is excellent for a new route.
FR from VCE seems to be the only one so far to divert although there are a couple of bmi regionals from FRA and MUC shown on FR24 as circling incessantly (an impressive track pattern). Larger aircraft seem to be landing - the easyJet from Malaga has landed as I type - so it might be that the lack of Cat3 capability on the smaller aircraft is the problem, although the top of Dundry Hill now appears to be clear from where I live - it wasn't earlier this morning. That said, Broadfield Down can be mist-laden when half a mile a way visibility is fine.

The FR Cologne seems to be doing well now passenger-wise with several 'sold outs' in recent weeks. Fares now seem to be rising to a very high level which is good news for the route if not for the punters who have to shell out, although Germany and the Christmas period might be expected to be good for trade.

January will be interesting. Have a good trip.

Further to my previous post the bmir flights from FRA and MUC eventually went to CWL after circling BRS for well over half an hour, it seems from FR24.

The 1210 bmir BRS-MUC was cancelled today, presumably because the aircraft had diverted to CWL. However, the 1150 bmir BRS-FRA and the 1635 bmir BRS-FRA both operated.

Also cancelled today was the Flybe/Blue Islands Jersey rotation.

I heard the FR tell ATC that they were restricted to CAT II, it looks like they swapped aircraft in EMA. The BMI’s are CAT II only.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
