LH announced today that since the loss of FR operating into MAN, they are stepping up their operations there. They will increase frequency on the DUS & FRA routes, and also introduce BRE.

FRA will be operated more often using Airbus A320/321's, whilst the CRJ's will be used for the increased DUS and BRE routes.

Im not too familiar with BRE, but i guess if they are using CRJ's demand cant be too high otherwise they would upgrade to an Airbus variant.

Maybe, the FR BRE route (ex MAN, come Oct 1st) went to LPL, as demand is not too high around the MAN/LBA/DSA area's with small operations held there.

When are these going on sale? I don't see any of these additions in the system yet.

Lufthansa have announced a new service to MAN, bringing the total now served to five german routes. The new Stuttgart route will be served 6 times weekly using CRJ700 equipment.

[textarea]Lufthansa enjoys record year at Manchester Airport

German airline Lufthansa enjoyed a record-breaking year at Manchester Airport as passenger numbers grew 19.3 percent to nearly 650,000 in 2010, the MEN reports. Lufthansa said its growth was fuelled by increased numbers of passengers using the airline to travel to the Far East, the Middle East and India via its hubs in Frankfurt, Munich and Dusseldorf. Connections to cities including Vienna, Moscow and Warsaw were also popular.

Marianne Sammann, Lufthansa's general manager for the UK and Ireland, told the newspaper: ‘Our passenger growth from Manchester Airport was exceptional, especially at a time when many airports are reporting a drop in passenger numbers for the year. It proves that huge numbers of travellers still want the added value they receive from a full service airline. They like to know the ticket includes good quality food and drink on board the aircraft as well as allowing them to check in at the airport and take a reasonable amount of luggage at no extra cost.’

I have heard a rumour that Lufthansa, despite past successes are to be scaling back their operations at Manchester. I think it is due to the fact that easyJet have been extremely successful on their current German routes. With Ryanair announcing that they are commencing routes within Germany from Manchester as well as GermanWings providing cheap fares with possible further expansion, I think Lufthansa are playing it safe, by cutting back.
The routes, that I have heard that are in question are the Frankfurt route, operated by BMI and also the Hamburg and Dusseldorf routes, operated by EuroWings.

This is a list of the current German operations within MAN:

Berlin, Munich, Hamburg - easyJet
Frankfurt-Hahn, Bremen, Memmingen - Ryanair
Frankfurt - Lufthansa (Operated by BMI)
Frankfurt, Munich - Lufthansa
Dusseldorf, Hamburg - Lufthansa Regional (Operated by Eurowings)
Stuttgart - Lufthansa Regional (Operated by Lufthansa CityLine)
Cologne/Bonn - GermanWings.

This rumour comes after AirBerlin announced that they would discontinue their Manchester Operations with cutting their Paderborn/Lippstadt from the end of October.

We hear this said all too often on aviation forums but "they've put all their eggs into one basket" Lufty said only twelve months ago that they wouldn't even consider Liverpool or Leeds or Doncaster because people can simply drive to Manchester to catch a flight to Frankfurt, Hamburg or Dusseldorf. What they don't seem to understand is there is a strong desire to fly from local airports these days, so if people can't fly from LPL, LBA, DSA or HUY direct with airlines like Lufthansa people will just fly with the likes of KLM who do offer regional departure points.

Well, seems the opposite has happened today.

As of 3rd June 2012, Lufthansa has announced a new daily flight to Berlin.

LH3416 BER0700 – 0755MAN 319 D
LH3417 MAN0835 – 1130BER 319 D

Seems that Lufthansa are beginning to transfer some routes back from bmi operated to Lufthansa operated.

The past 2 nights at least, the nightstopping Munich has changed from a bmi A319 to a Lufthansa A320.

Ive also heard that as of 10th April, my system shows me that the Frankfurt flight changes from a bmi A320 on 3 out of 4 flights, to a Lufthansa A321. The mid morning Lufthansa flight (op by LH) remains an A320.

[textarea]New Berlin route boosts links to Germany June

A new route from Manchester to Berlin which launched on Jubilee weekend has helped boost advance bookings for German airline Lufthansa. The daily Berlin service flew for the first time on Sunday and has been introduced as part of Lufthansa expansion of services to Berlin in preparation for the opening of the new airport at the German capital next year.

Hi user001, i'm sure that the LH Frankfurt flights are still being operated by bmi A320's. They're still showing up on FR24 & Planefinder, usually, G-MIDY.
I wonder if there's any update on the changeover date to Lufthansa equipment? I'm Flying MAN-FRA in September, surely the bmi airframes will all have gone over to BA by then?

Dusseldorf increases to 4 daily from 28th October using CRJ900

Lufthansa Cargo will also introduce a 3rd weekly MD11 freighter flight.

LH8203 arrives from Detroit at 03:55, and departs to Frankfurt at 04:45

It was, three aircraft have been removed from TXL and MAN was one of the casualties. Being up against Easyjet on the Berlin route probably didn't help.

Lufthansa next week will introduce a 4th weekly cargo flight.

There will now be an MD11 on Mon, Tue and Thu, with the new B77F operating on Sundays.

The Tuesday flight will change to a B77F mid-December.

This is also in addition to the steady stream of widebodies to the paint facility, so, it seems if you like Lufthana's big jets MAN is the place to be.

Ive noticed Lufthansa seem to be using A320's a lot more on the Dusseldorf flights.

Father in law was expecting to be on a CRJ900 last night, but was surprised to see an A320 waiting at the gate.

Lufthansa seem to have added a new cargo flight to MAN. LH8165 is a B777F and runs from ATL to MAN.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
