Yep I concede I'm on Android and was just flitting about.

I guess yes you would book on a laptop.......but don't run XP :)

Would a daily 75 eg Condor work re JFK ?

Got a notification to say that the Thomas Cook PDF timetable for W17/18 had been updated. The only thing I could spot was that it states JFK will be daily full season. Not bookable as such yet, so, I wonder if MAN/TCX have made a deal to address the woeful state of JFK this winter and it's a work in progress?

It would be great for Thomas Cook to mop up this capacity! Let's hope it happens.

Now, just to hope the increased JFK winter programme comes to fruition.

Another quirky new route for Thomas Cook?

GDS is showing flights Manchester to Merida (Mexico), non stop outbound.

Nothing viewable in the schedules yet...this is how CPT and MRU first appeared as well, so unclear as yet whether this is a new schedule of a small number of services.

PARTICIPANT CARRIERS SCHEDULED OUT OF MAN TO MID

NON-STOP SERVICE
MT

This would be a great service to have to explore the historical aspect of that region and could open up new coastal resorts. These 'small' destinations such as Pureto Vallarta and Liberia seem to be doing well for Thomson so a possible pre-emptive strike against any new TOM venture?

Wonder if Merida would be a cruise charter, not aware of many hotels being on offer in that area. Currently the city is only liked to Eurooe via a seasonal Blue Panorama flight.

Christoph Debus has said that some MAN-USA routes will go year round due to increased demand (ironic). He didn't say which ones but given JFK/MCO are listed as year round daily in the TCX timetable its a good bet to start with.

Perhaps their increased demand is due to people choosing the cheaper flight option as a way of combatting otherwise higher costs of the USA.

So, overall demand MAN-USA remains flat/falls, but within that demand their is a major shift from the full service and legacy carriers to TCX?

It would seem a reasonable interpretation Dobbo and makes me more wary as to how Virgin will react. The only thing I would say is that purely from seat map reviews for the US carriers, Business Class has held up rather better than Economy on some flights. I don't know about Virgin and its Upper Class and P.E. but a few observations at check-in suggests decent numbers for pax at those desks.

I expect TCX is the cheaper option in most cases, and if their Premium product is reasonable, it may attract pax that otherwise would be looking at P.E. on Virgin or Economy Plus on AA or UA.

JFK and MCO are the obvious candidates to go year-round - particularly addressing the dire condition of JFK this winter. Thomas Cook seems to be making positive noises about TATL - anyone fancy Tampa or San Diego for S18? ;)

"Jens Boyd, head of group long-haul at Thomas Cook Group Airlines, says the strategy is particularly necessary in the transatlantic market where competition for passengers remains fierce.
He adds: “The demands on the transatlantic market are still high. People are piling capacity into it and while there might still be demand which is increasing for some destinations in Europe, the airlines, tourist boards and operators still need to stagger the traffic flow.
“To sustain our own network development [in this market] we’ll be adding secondary points in the US like New Orleans rather than using the hub system to add more and more routes. We see ourselves operating more point-to-point flights in the long-haul sector [in the future].”

Not my place to speak for others but I'm sure Ethan would be horrified to think his comments were being interpreted gleefully and I'm sure his next posting will correct that in a wholehearted manner.

On a wider point.

It may be construed as callous PR but I prefer the view that it's a show of solidarity.

We are here, we are a great city thee best in the UK in my opinion, any "positive" gesture even on the back of a marketeers fag packet I feel should be applauded.

Thank you very much. My interpretation of User's original comment was that the special livery was completely out of context from the Manchester Attack, and that surely a special livery could not be planned, applied and unveiled in the space of four days? I thought that the livery would be a tourism stunt for Manchester and, in which case, it would have been very exciting, however, if it does indeed link to the Manchester Attack, I think it is a superb show of solidarity from one of our 'home' airlines and am disgusted to think that 'excitement' at a livery to mourn an attack was an interpretation of my words.

Huge queues for TCX flights in T1 at 07.30 this morning. Looking at the boards, it wasn't surprising, given that 5 long haul flights were due out between 09.30 and 10.45 and then a further 2 either side of 12.00.
09.30 Cancun
09.55 Las Vegas
10.15 Orlando
10.35 JFK
10.45 Varadero
11.55 Orlando
12.10 Miami

(I think I've got those in the right order).

That's ignoring any short hauls.

Is it 7 A330s each day now? Or are some shared with other airports? Is there still a A333 transferring from Scandinavia or gas that now changed?

A very impressive offering either way. Also, seems like they're following Jet2 and increasing Winter frequencies.

Sorry, I don't know if it's 7 A332s each day but I suspect not. Yes, it seems from quotes from TCX there will be some increase in winter frequency or flights going year round.

The TCX comment about serving secondary airports in the US is interesting. But would San Diego from MAN for example affect their LAX flights or Tampa their Orlando, or win passengers from other airlines hub flights from MAN? Or, more hopefully, would they stimulate the market and also attract pax that might otherwise use another airport than MAN such as LGW or LHR for their TATL flight?

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
