The airports press team have tweeted the author. It will be interesting to see if there is a response. Hopefully a positive one.

It seems a few people have tweeted and face booked the author, and she has since said she will edit the article!

At least she knows now that the UK isn't just London.

User - do you think the sale/takeover rumours will have an impact on TCX's long haul ambitions?

I can't imagine they will want to take on significant new challenges if they are subject to a takeover.

Reported on another site that the first outbound had 294 pax and the inbound 111.
Although the capacity is shown as 322 on seat guru, that inbound load struck me as quite reasonable given the majority of pax will be UK originating.

Copied from another poster.

Do we have any load factors on the new TCX flights. I believe they are doing exceptionally well.

I was intending to ask that myself... If we don't have any inside info we can always wait for the CAA stats (which may be some time...)

Boston starts today.

Do we know how Boston is doing, slightly forgotten in the excitement of China!

You would hope it would do well. With VS entering the market in spring 2017, TCX looking to increase services and Norwegian long rumoured to hold an interest in BOS-MAN there should be a fair market for what TCX currently offer.

user, what's the scoop on SAN for S18?

Have the previous expansion plans (SFO) been put on hold?
Forgive me if I am wrong but I think SFO has been shelved considering VS are launching the route - which I am booked to fly on!! I would also like to know the scoop on SAN and what about SA?

Sure SFO was postponed due aircraft availability but if we are for SAN in summer 2018 then maybe they've found an aircraft to boost LAX and JFK and start SFO and SAN?

It would seem that Thomas Cook are in the process of loading a new non-stop flight MAN-CPT into the GDS.

At least I hope that's what's happening. It could be a one-off service...but at this stage I can see that a flight exists, but cannot retrieve the schedule. I'll update when I find more. From Galileo:

PARTICIPANT CARRIERS SCHEDULED INTO MAN FROM CPT

NON-STOP SERVICE
MT

DIRECT - STOPPING SERVICE
NONE

The Cape Town service is due to start next winter, so indeed, this could be the start of loading up.

Mauritius would be interesting, taking the fights right to Thomson on that one.

Does this indicate that aircraft shortages have been resolved?

If so, I wonder if we will see a strategic shift of previously planned expansion from the USA to other destinations?

Seems to be a strange part of the 'OAG report' on the airliners.net thread.

Basically, it's a guy that lists all the GDS schedule changes to the USA for a certain period.

Amongst others, he has put that in October, Thomas Cook will offer 1.7 flights to both JFK and LAS.

Basically, 0.2 equals a weekly flight, so 1.0 is daily, 1.2 is 8 weekly and so on.

That means for him to be reporting a figure of 1.7, it means the flights will be about 10-11 weekly. I cannot find these flights in any system, but he must have found them somewhere to report on them?

They do seem like unrealistic increases in the circumstances. Very odd.

I'd have thought they would address new routes before bumping up JFK and (especially) LAS to something like 10x weekly.

Any news on SFO and SAN by TCX?

It's been mentioned in other places that TCX intend to move 3/4 753 to UK and 1 A333. With 1 763 leaving. Can their 753s operate to New York, Boston etc? It may be they are finding creative ways to continue expansion when having difficulties acquiring A332s

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
