[textarea]New Jet2 seats to cut fuel costs

Jet2 are to drive down the cost of fuel consumption on their flights with newly designed, light-weight seats on board their Boeing 757’s that have begun to arrive at East Midlands Airport. The launch of the new streamlined seats, which enhance customer comfort as well as save space due to an ergonomically designed shape, coincided with the arrival of Jet2.com’s planes at the airport.

The light-weight seats are will shave 500 kilos off an average flight for the 229-seat Boeing 757 which means greater savings for customers and less fuel consumption. They will also create more legroom, managing director Ian Doubtfire said.

This summer Jet2 is launching flights to 7 new destinations – Corfu, Dalaman, Heraklion, Lanzarote, Paphos, Sharm el Sheikh and Tenerife - starting from May 19. The expansion is expected to create 200 new jobs.

Do we now loose G-LSAB, as one of our own 757's?

I'd imagine it will be changed every so often. It won't stay at the same airport the whole time.

They normally rotate them so that one plane isnt doing the same cycles every week.

Looking at the above schedule for summer 11, I wouldn't be surprised to see flight times changed on Monday, Tuesday and Weds so only 1 aircraft is needed, freeing up another for more flights elsewhere.

Unless they announce new routes...

Likewise, I would say the same. Mon, Tue and Wednesday are traditionally the quietest days of the week at most airports.

Jet2's free skis offer is back on for bookings made between the 15th and 30th November.

I think that Jet2 has got great potential at EMA. With the dropping of SSH and their Tunisian Programme they are generally focussing on more Canary Island routes. For next summer, possibly winter as well I can see them chasing a Gran Canaria route, that serves NEW and MAN at the moment, especially in competition with TOM and TCX as well as FR and possibly some more city routes to utilise the 737 more....

Looks like there will be another based unit then what with the new routes and the Increased capacity of routes to Palma, Faro and Tenerife.

Good news for the airport.

The 3rd Jet2 based EMA aircaft will be a Boeing 737 either 300 or 800 (Variant TBC) adding to the already 2 based Boeing 757-200's.

It's currently 1x 752 and 1x 733.

it will probably most likely be another 733 then.

No it's not, it looks as though it will be a 757.

A simple flight search on a Friday morning using next year's flights show the following aircraft based at East Midland's Airport

07:10 - Palma is operated with a 757
07:30 Malaga is operated with a 737
08:30 -Tenerife is operated with a 757

ohh, so are Jet2 likely to place more orders then for more 752's or will a base lose one?

Geneva and Chambery dropped for Winter 2011/12.

Could it be that bmibaby have knocked Jet2.com off these routes? - increased flights to Geneva and a new route to Chambery starting this Winter at EMA.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
