Use this prefix for new threads for Cardiff Airport
Yes it will I'm guessing that the CAA should release the figures in February maybe. Considering none of the routes are served from Cardiff they should stand out.

Just seen some photos online of the BA aircraft parked on the 6 pack stands and it looks great. It's a real shame we don't see the short haul aircraft regularly.

The CAA's aim of providing figures which show passenger performance on each route is laudable. However, it would be very difficult for them to go back and add diverted passengers to their intended airports.
Perhaps it is for the better for diverted passengers to be reported where they finish up. Otherwise they will disappear from the figures completely.

Pretty sure it's done based on the point of entry, not where the ticket was destined. So regardless if it was a diversion or not they arrived into CWL SO become part of CWLs stats. I think I've seen past CAA stats showing diversion origins as CWLs figures but nothing to note it was a diverted flight.
Also many of the diverted passengers may not actually travel to their original destination and make their own way straight home. Happens a lot for BRS diversions.

The CAA's tables 12.1, 12.2 and 12.3 - International/Domestic Air Passenger Route Analysis all carry this note:

In order to preserve market analysis all identifiable diversions are reallocated to the point of intended operation.

It can only relate to the destination airport as, for example, a NCE-BRS flight diverted to CWL would still have flown from NCE so would not need to be re-allocated at that end. I only raised the subject because the point was made that the CWL diversions last night would increase CWL's passenger numbers for December and I pointed out that the CAA would re-allocate them to the original destination. Jerry then pointed out that in the past such re-allocation hasn't been done and he is correct in that - at least, there are a lot of examples of when it hasn't been done.

I agree that it would be more accurate to record the passengers as arriving at the diversionary airport which the CAA now seems to be doing despite its note to the contrary. I went on to say that it's another example of the suspect stats that the CAA now often puts out. Having been studying the CAA stats for many years - yes, I know - I have many examples that show they are far from being accurate in all sorts of ways.

Anyway, I must take the blame for leading this thread off on something of a tangent for which I apologise.

A few delays and cancellations for today.
The 07.35 Anglesey departure with Eastern Airways didn't depart until 13.45 and the return arrived back at 15.55.
The 09.45 Flybe Paris CDG departure was diverted to Lille and the 13.00 arrival was cancelled.
The 14.00 Flybe Munich departed at 15.30 and the arrival 18.55 landed at 20.17.
The 17.15 Flybe Jersey arrival landed at 19.08.
The 18.00 Flybe departure to Belfast departed at 19.50
KLM 10.20 departed at 11,25 due to slot issues, the 16.55 arrival and 17.25 departure were cancelled and the 21.40 night stopper arrival and it's corresponding 6 am morning departure have been cancelled.

Credit for the info to SWAG.

Arriving into CWL for the first time in a while today .
I'm travelling on the 13:50 BE4598 TXL-CWL. The load on todays flight is only 56 on the 118 seat E195.
I chose this flight over the easyJet SXF-BRS as I would get home earlier (Flybe scheduled to arrive in CWL at 15:00, easyJet scheduled to arrive into BRS at 22:15). However, it's not going well so far... the flybe aircraft which was due to leave Cardiff for Berlin at 10:10 is still on the ground 1hr 30 later....

Seems to have just departed, Intresting with TXL I thought it would have proved more popular than it has been, loads were OK in the summer, would be nice to see this improve and consolidate on the E175 next year, Have a great flight and safe onward travel from the airport 🙂

That's a pity that the flight is delayed but it's interesting that you took the flight as an alternative to using easyJet into BRS which is a demonstration that the two airports can complement each other, especially if one operates a route on a different day or at a significantly different time of the day.

I shall be interested to read the next CAA passenger survey that includes CWL and BRS. Unfortunately, although the CAA carries out annual surveys at the major UK airports, smaller airports only feature every 3-4 years.

CWL and BRS last featured in 2015 when only 35,000 passengers with origin or final destination in South West England used CWL. With Qatar and the increased Flybe network together with CWL's increasing passenger numbers overall it will of interest to see the number when the next survey is published.

The good news is that the outbound has now departed CWL - at 1141 according to FR24.

Indeed. It's about to land and scheduled to depart an 1hr 10 late at the moment.
For me today, it was a longer journey to TXF (as I happened to be in SXF already), plus I will have to drive further when arriving back into CWL, however it saved me waiting around all day for a 9pm departure this evening. It was also more expensive (slightly) to CWL, but work is paying so wasn't really a consideration.
If you were Christmas marketing or needing a full work day in Berlin, then the BRS flight would have probably been a more sensible option.
Just to balance it up, I'll be flying out of BRS next week to CGN, and the week after to EDI!

80 on todays CWL-TXL flight, which is better than todays TXL-CWL but still surprising for a Thursday flight in Dec which I thought would have been filled with visitors to the Christmas Markets (who could return on the Sunday flight).

It looks like your flight was late because your aircraft G-FBEM was late arriving back from Belfast. I don't think Berlin has worked out as well as the airport has hoped. Which is a pity as my sister has just returned from there using Jet2 to Leeds after a weekend away and she says it's a great city. I hope you had a good flight back and a good experience at CWL.

The 15.50 Eastern Airways arrival from Newcastle was cancelled along with it's corresponding 16.20 departure though according to SWAG that departed at 18.43 and the aircraft was an E170 not a J41. G-CIXV did arrive from Humberside and operated straight to Aberdeen without a stop in Newcastle.

The E170 arrival was a 17.00 departure from Humberside carrying the Hull City football team, who are due to play Cardiff City tomorrow. They have an Eastern Airways charter arranged for their return tomorrow evening.
Eastern obviously use their football charters to work around cancellations of scheduled flights.

CWL has had an Aer Lingus Regional ATR72 EI-FAX from Dublin divert in from Bristol.

The 21.40 KLM Amsterdam arrival is delayed until 23.20 according to the airport flight info board.

Was there a specific reason for most of the BRS diversions yesterday evening when the ILS was playing up going to other airports rather than CWL? Usually, easyJet diversions make CWL their first port of call but last night easyJet diverted to EXT, BHX and LGW.

Not that i know of. CWL was open and did have a DUB flight divert. The only thing i could think of is runway directions in which the direction the aircraft were landing was more suited to diverting to EXT, BHX and LGW maybe?
