looking at the weather just now for next week there could be problems more or less every where. the reason being fog and dense and lots of it for about 3 days.
That'll create havoc especially if LCY gets a lot of fog as well. Could be a lot cancellations and diversions. Hopefully it won't have a big impact on CWL or BRS.

The local weather forecast this evening suggests that the fog will be to the east of the Bristol region tomorrow. If that is so CWL (and BRS) should be all right.

2 flights cancelled and 1 with a big delay so far.
KL1058 06.05 departure didn't depart until 07.35 due to fog at AMS.
BE1323 CWL-LCY and it's return BE1324 have been cancelled due to fog at LCY.
KL1059 and KL1060 have both been cancelled due to fog at AMS.
Hopefully that will be it for the disruptions today!

More fog chaos today for CWL. Last night the GLA arrival BE4518 scheduled at 23.25 couldn't land due to fog and was diverted to BHX which has a knock on for today. Also the 23.50 Dubai departure had to be guided to the runway by the fire trucks because the pilot couldn't see the taxiway lights because of thick fog. Got that info from a Facebook page.
So BE4522 was operated by a Q400 and departed an hour late at 08.00. BE1324 and BE1323 LCY rotations have been cancelled.
BE4566 and BE4565 the CDG rotations have also been cancelled.
Eastern Airways T34641 inbound from NCL has been diverted to BRS and T34032 departed to NCL from BRS at 11.17.
BE4530 to FAO etd at 12.30 instead of 10.30 and BE284 to BHD etd at 12.30 instead of 11.30.

A diversion from Southampton last night BE991 BHD-SOU a Q400 was diverted to CWL guessing because of fog. It landed at 23.38.
And G-FBEN a Flybe E190 also diverted in from Birmingham according to SWAG but according to FR24 it was diverted to EMA.
Todays Dublin flight BE4521 departed at 08.28 and not 07.00 for an unknown reason and BE4551 CWL-TXL has a delayed departure time estimated time of departure of 11.15.

The 10.45 arrival from LCY has been cancelled. The aircraft got diverted into SEN. I'm not sure if the passengers were bussed over or not.
I know that the airline can't do anything about fog but considering the service is up against the train the constant cancellations won't help with the image of the service in the mind of the people it's trying to target.

It's been posted on SWAG that there was a BMI diversion from BRS today BMR1822 FRA-BRS ERJ145 G-EMBI.

Also a there was a special visitor in the form of Prime Minister Theresa May for the Joint Ministerial council today in Cardiff. Which probably means she will use the airport more than First Minister Carwyn Jones this year!
ZE701 a BAe 146 from 32(Royal) Squadron arrived at 09.20 and then departed to Dublin at 15.11.

Yes, it was the morning inbound from FRA. There have been six diversions from BRS today: 1 to CWL, 1 to EXT and 4 to BHX.

I put the morning diversions on the BRS diversions etc thread and I'll do the rest later but there may be more yet. A bmir from Milan MXP circled for a while before landing half an hour ago. Currently, everything seems to be getting in.

I don't know why more didn't go to CWL which seemed to be operating all day. BHX took 2 easyJets, 1 Thomas Cook and a Brussels Airlines (op by bmir)

I'm surprised that the EZY aircraft went to BHX because it's much more busier than CWL or EXT. The former are literally on the doorstep compared to BHX and would no doubt be able to park them without effecting normal operations as neither would be restricted because of stands. I believe CWL has 16 and i doubt as most as 4 are used at one time usually. Don't know about EXT.

Maybe the forecast for CWL wasn't great either. Cardiff City itself was foggy this morning. BHX weather has been ok all day.

Its not only aircraft that hbas to be thought about. One of the biggest things with diversions is ground transport ie coaches to get pax to airport they were planned at. Another thing is handling agents as they will tell airports if they can handle or not and airports don't have a say in that one. So airlines will go to where they will get a good service. Any divert to another airport is not taken lightly by airlines, and also a lot of times airlines will do a splash and dash

The 08.00 departure to LCY has been cancelled and the 10.45 arrival from LCY was cancelled as well. Guessing because of the delays at LCY this morning though I don't know why there was delays. But I'm guessing fog.

no fog around lcy this morning. watching breakfast tv and they were showing the sun rise in London.

I was at Thurrock at 8 am and it was a bit gloomy but there was visibility and by 9.30 it was ok,not sure on LCYs minimum visibility for landing though.
I have noticed on fr24 that between 8 and 10 there was a lot of cancellations and diversions to STN and SEN so something must have been effecting the airport.

A few delays today. The 08.50 Flybe EDI arrival was diverted to Exeter. The 08.00 Eastern NCL flight was 40 mins in the hold but landed and the 09.30 Dublin arrival is currently holding at 12,000ft.
The 09.20 CDG is delayed as the aircraft is in EXT and the 10.20 MXP is also delayed as the aircraft is at this moment circling above at 12,000ft. And it looks like the 09.50 AMS arrival may have been diverted to BHX.

Flybe CWL-JER 15.55 departure returned to CWL without landing at JER. Apparently it was struck by lightening. According FR24 it was circling around off Jersey for a while until it returned to CWL.

Flybe TXL-CWL BE4552 was diverted to EXT and TOM BY6645 ALC-CWL was diverted to BRS. Though just after these flights diverted Flybe LCY-CWL landed first time of trying.

Flybe flights from Paris Cdg and Dublin diverted to East Midlands and Birmingham respectively. A KLM Cityhopper F70 from Amsterdam has just landed, the first since the London City at lunchtime it would appear. The Flybe Chambery rotation is shown as cancelled.

Not a good day for CWL. This must effect the profits of the Flybe operation with the constant diversions. Seems to be quite a lot this year. I read a post on a Cardiff airport facebook page which suggested that the ILS needs to be upgraded. The poster mentioned that BRS gets worse weather but seems to get less diversions than CWL possibly because of a better ILS system I honestly don't know if that is true. I suppose % of traffic of the airport wise CWL's diversions will be a lot higher than BRS.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
