Looks like a gimmick, might get the backs up of those DSA proponents who have been looking to MME as a beacon of hope for what can be done under public ownership. There’s skepticism over whether there is room for a freight airport so close to EMA, if it gained any traction at MME then there is no hope at all.

FedEx started operations in June. Now we have three months of CAA data on the Cargo front.

June 65 Tonnes
July 83 Tonnes
August 62 Tonnes

Operations at Teesside have only been Outbound so far, with Inbound flights due to start in a couple of weeks time.

Looking at the same period last year for when the operation was based up Newcastle.

July 62 Tonnes
August 77 Tonnes

Newcastle was Inbound and Outbound operation.

So by deducing the figures it looks like the operations at Teesside are carrying more cargo than what they did at Newcastle.

First flight for European Cargo en route from China should arrive about midnight tonight. It is expected to depart 1000hrs tomorrow Wednesday.

They have indeed. I understand they have 5 aircraft on the ground at Teesside, is that correct? I didn't think they had that many aircraft.

They have only one on ground at Teesside, the remaining ones are at Bournemouth.
