I think this has less to do with the market and more to do investigations over the company’s (Russian) ownership. Already Finland has said they are unlikely to give them an operating permit. The crews are from the Russian Nordwind Airlines. The US is said to have been looking into sanctioning the airline. I do not expect to see them in UK this year, but who knows.

Looks like Southwind Airlines launch of its new UK - Turkey routes this summer has been put back even further/later into the summer.

I wonder if this is the CAA taking a good look at the airline, to see if it still has any links to Russia?

Looks like all of this has been shelved - unsurprising given how unknown these brands are in the UK; and the mass saturation of the AYT market.

Nothing bookable on their website from any UK departure point.

Southwind have been banned from flying in EU Airspace so doubt will be seeing them at all now.

Update- 2/4 They are apparently appealing the ban as they say they have no connection to Russia apart from operating flights there.

Now confirmed as banned from EU airspace so Holiday Best are having to find alternative operators. Whether that will include LBA or not, we will have to wait and see..

I spoke to HolidayBest today, they have switched to SunExpress.
They’re apparently looking at moving passengers to alternate flights so could mean that even if Southwind won their appeal against the EU ban their market might not be there for them to operate anymore.

likely they’re moving passengers to Sun Express, TUI, Jet2 EasyJet and possibly Pegasus.

Im not sure what Holidaybest's web-site showed originally, but its now showing a mix of Jet2 and SunExpress from LBA.

Which is what I thought they would do. Just transfer pax to other airlines that fly to AYT.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
