Strong start to the year for Heathrow
Strong start to the year for the UK’s best airport picture

  • 6 million people travelled through Heathrow in January, including 196,661 passengers on Blue Monday (15 January) who were seeking a jet-setting start to 2024.
  • 2024 has got off to a smashing start with Heathrow being named the best UK airport for the 3rd consecutive year at the Travel Weekly Globe Travel Awards. This accolade is testament to the hard work and dedication of all colleagues across Team Heathrow.
  • 122,255 tonnes of cargo passed through the airport in January as Heathrow unveils its ‘Exporting Excellence’ report, spotlighting exporters from the 12 nations and regions of the UK. As the country’s only hub airport, Heathrow plays a vital role connecting UK exporters to destinations unique to Heathrow, from Dallas to Guangzhou.
  • While exports are thriving, Britain has shut the door on home grown growth, turning away international shoppers through the tourist tax and tarnishing the UK’s reputation as a competitive country to spend and do business with. Heathrow has joined forces with the British Chambers of Commerce and the Federation of Small Businesses to make the case for an internationally competitive tax-free shopping incentive at the Spring Budget.
Heathrow CEO Thomas Woldbye said: “The year has got off to a strong start, retaining Heathrow’s crown as the best UK airport. We are ready for the first passenger peak of the year, with February half term fast approaching. Whether you are travelling to ski, soak up the sun, or visit friends and family, Heathrow has you covered.”

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
