It's been reported on Facebook that the passenger loads for the inaugural flights are

I have seen some people moaning on Facebook that they think that this type of aircraft is too small/cramped for this route. I have been across the Atlantic 3 or 4 times on a 757 from CWL, BRS and LHR and although that frame is obviously longer it is still a one aisled aircraft and no wider than a 737-8. Am I correct in my assumption?

737s crossing the Atlantic aren't new. I think widebodies give the passenger the illusion of space. Most passengers just have a 19 inch wide seat with 31 inch of pitch in a block of 3 seats. No difference than what you have in the 737. Only difference is for business class passengers in that the only product available is a Premium Economy seat not a lie flat suite.

Thanks both. I never respond to these daft comments I see on Facebook, I think it shows they have little or no knowledge of civic aviation. I'm no expert though, far from it 😂🤣

Planning on flying on this route next year. I flew there on Air Transat on a 757 from CWL back in the day and still remember the Pilot's name...Captain Picard...I kid you not! 🤣

Was the aircraft named Enterprise or got the reg of 1701?

Unfortunately not but when he revealed his name after taking off my friend whom was travelling turned to me and we both said at the same time "to boldly go..."

I suppose we’ll never know, and it seems that airline and airport are happily promoting this route as a point-to-point - but I do wonder if there are many connections being booked through YYZ given they do give a fair offering of destinations across North America and Caribbean?!

I suspect there will be. I have heard of people booking flights to places like Vancouver. I'm sure there'll be Canadians coming from places like that as well.

More social media about the route

Also on social media it's been stated that the flights for Summer 2027 have been loaded. The info is via Expertflyer.
Same as this year 4 weekly from 22/5/27 to 11/9/27.

BBC Wales News report on the launch of Toronto with WestJet from Cardiff_Airport
States in the report that it's a 5 year deal. Also interview with the CEO talks about sustainable routes not flash in the pan ones

That’s very exciting. I wonder how many passengers are booked on from “over the bridge”. I wish the route every success, and might even book the family on a summer holiday to Canada next year.

To me, I feel like there’s a bit of a race in the long haul department which Cardiff can hopefully monopolise on in the South West. After all Bristol will soon be undergoing upgrades which might steal some of Cardiff’s potential.

There's a lot of opposition to the intention of BRS, in the West Country Media, at their proposal to extend the runway, and use common land for BRS approach lighting, so I think it will be some time before BRS will succeed in their expansion plans. As you say Sam, let's hope CWL can establish some new routes before BRS succeed in their plans.

eir expansion

It would be interesting to know. Whether the airport would reveal the % idk.

I don't really see it as much of a race tbh. I think for both airports there has to be a realism of what's realistic route wise.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
