This week, I'm aboard SWISS International Airlines in Economy Class on a long-haul journey from Zurich to Hong Kong to see how the airline’s flagship Boeing 777-300ER holds up on a flight of this length.
This review takes you through the full experience from boarding to landing, including the cabin environment, seat comfort, inflight entertainment, meals, amenities, and the self-serve galley. The flight got off to a very strong start with an excellent first meal, thoughtful amenities, clean cabins throughout, and one of the better long-haul snack selections I’ve seen.
But as the hours passed, the experience became more mixed. The seat felt narrower than expected, cabin temperature was inconsistent, and breakfast didn’t live up to what came before — making it a journey very much defined by two halves.
Route: Zurich (ZRH) to Hong Kong (HKG)
Aircraft: Boeing 777-300ER (HB-JNC)
Cabin: Economy
Flight Time: 11 hours, 18 minutes
Cost: £497.22 (return cash ticket LCY-ZUR-HKG)
