easyJet is today celebrating the arrival of its sixth aircraft at its Birmingham Airport base, supporting 400 jobs.
Since easyJet launched its base at Birmingham Airport in March 2024, the airline’s presence in the region has gone from strength to strength having tripled the number of destinations on its network. Now it serves 44 routes from Birmingham and will operate its largest ever operation this summer.

The arrival of an additional Airbus A320 aircraft will enable the airline to offer customers in the Midlands even more choice for flights and holidays across Europe this summer.

easyJet has also celebrated the first flights taking off on its new route from Birmingham to Nice today, with the new aircraft operating the inaugural flight. The route will now operate twice a week on Mondays and Fridays providing travellers with a convenient connection to the south of France.

The airline also recently announced the launch of a new twice-weekly route from Birmingham to Agadir, Morocco, with flights and package holidays now on sale.
Beach breaks are proving popular with easyJet holidays customers from Birmingham this summer, with Majorca, Antalya and Rhodes topping the list of destinations that holidaymakers are booking. All easyJet holidays beach packages include flights, hotel, 23kg luggage and transfers, offering a convenient, stress-free option for families, couples and groups of friends.

easyJet holidays offers packages to over 10,000 hotels across Europe and North Africa, with travel dates all the way up to October 2027.

All packages include flights and hotel, with 23kg luggage and transfers on all beach getaways. All covered by its Ultimate Flexibility, offering freedom to change a booking, a refund guarantee, and best price guarantee.

This expansion marks a continued trajectory of UK growth for the airline after it recently opened a new base at Newcastle Airport.

Kevin Doyle, easyJet’s UK Country Manager said:
“We are delighted to be celebrating the arrival of an additional aircraft at our Birmingham base, as well as the launch of our new route to Nice.
“Not only does our fleet growth in Birmingham support many skilled jobs and connectivity which play a crucial role in economic growth, it is a clear demonstration of our continued commitment to serving customers in the Midlands as well as supporting inbound travel for tourism in the UK’s second largest city.
“Through our unrivalled short-haul network and unique easyJet holidays offering, we continue to provide more choice and value for money, always aiming to make travel easy.”

Matthew Hazelwood, Chief Commercial Officer at Birmingham Airport said:
“easyJet’s growth at Birmingham Airport has been phenomenal since its base launch just over two years ago, with Nice added as a new route today. The airline understands the demand from the Midlands and ensures both choice and flexibility when planning its route network. The arrival of the airline’s sixth based aircraft builds on this network and now offers 44 routes direct from Birmingham Airport with a choice of flight only or a holiday package.”

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
