[textarea]AUC criticise airlines over ash compensation information
Many UK airlines are hindering passengers as they seek to reclaim the extra costs incurred due to the volcanic ash flight disruption, a watchdog said yesterday. The Air Transport Users Council (AUC) said information about the reimbursement of extra travel and hotel expenses was hidden or absent on many airline websites.
The AUC said airlines such as Flybe, BMI and Jet2 had no link to these details on their home page. However, it praised BA, Virgin and Ryanair for providing such links, even though Ryanair said initially that it would not pay the expenses.
