Any idea why?

Bizzare but it was LVP in BRS last night. Low fog. The Ryanair was the only flight affected. Everything else landed. The plane returned around 01:40 minus its passengers who were coached. The coach would have taken longer to get to Bristol.

CityJet WX/BCY 9355 (ARJ85) due BRS from Innsbruck at 1815 is shown on the BRS website as operating from Salzburg.

The outbound flight WX/BCY 9352 departed at 0715 and the INN arrivals page shows it landing there at 1033 local (8 minutes late). I believe that it flies INN/BHX/INN before returning to BRS this evening, although I suppose it will be INN/BHX/SZG today.

Doesn't seem to be any problem at Innsbruck Airport so I wonder why it's coming back from Salzburg.

Saw (on FR24) an inbound FR 738 from BHM at about 08.40 this morning - was that connected with this ?

This was the flight that diverted, it didn't operate back to BRS in the early hours, as originally planned.

EZY 405 to Glasgow dep 1620 and return EZY 406 due back at BRS at 1910 was cancelled. It was the only one of 49 easyJet BRS rotations today to be cancelled. I wonder why. Presumably the aircraft had another rotation after the GLA and nothing else is shown as cancelled.

No doubt a lot of unhappy customers as the only later GLA rotation would have been heavily booked as they always seem to be on Sundays.

I have often thought about rotations cancelled by airlines that it seems to never hear too much feed back from pax as why it was cancelled. For what ever reason it only hears from pax when a rotation is cancelled due to weather or tech plane. I wonder if a lot of these cancelled routes are planned in advance and airport arr/dep boards are not keeping up to date with info.
It would be nice to hear about this subject from a airline as it would answer many questions as it seems to be happening not only from brs but airports across this country but also across the globe.

Was the aircraft that was down to operate it late arriving back from its previous flight?

The GLA, and EDI, are always heavily booked especially on Sundays, Mondays and Fridays. Often all rotations are sold out. The afternoon northbound is sold out today and also the two remaining southbounds, plus one of tomorrow's southbounds. Another point is that in July and August easyJet reduces the GLA to 3 x daily (at other times some days are 4 x daily, as it does with EDI from 5 to 4 x daily on some days) so there is reduced seating capacity anyway without cancelling flights.

I don't think there was any doubt about the intention to operate it. They could just take it out of the booking system if there was never an intention to operate it, as they've already done with some flights in peak summer as I mentioned above.

There are occasions though with other airlines when the BRS arrivals/departures website shows a cancellation when the rotation had never been advertised by the airline. An example was last winter when Blue Islands/Flybe reduced the JER from the 2 x daily of many years to daily for the season, yet the airport website kept showing the second rotation that never was as cancelled.

Was the aircraft that was down to operate it late arriving back from its previous flight?

I don't know. I don't know which inbound flight was operated by the aircraft due for the GLA. As superking points out, it's often difficult for passengers to know exactly why a flight has been cancelled.

Perhaps it's time to increase the capacity available on these routes. At one point British airways was flying 5-6 times per day plus go flying 3 x daily

They do vary a bit according to time of year:

GLA is (rotations per day):

4 3 3 3 4 1 3 (M-Sun, total 21) in summer apart from peak summer (July/Aug)
3 3 3 3 3 1 3 (M-Sun, total 19) July/Aug
4 3 3 4 4 1 3 (M-Sun, total 22) in winter

EDI is (rotations per day):

5 3 3 4 5 1 4 (M-Sun, total 25) in summer apart from peak summer (July/August)
4 3 3 4 5 1 4 (M-Sun, total 24) July/Aug
5 4 4 4 5 1 4 (M-Sun, total 27) in winter

I suppose there are fewer business travellers in peak summer. As with last winter the peculiar thing about EDI this coming winter is that on Mondays the last of the five northbound flights departs BRS at 1555 and returns at 1845, and for the remainder of the week the last southbound arrives at BRS at 2015 or 2020.

You are quite right about Go and the early years of easyJet when the BA franchisee operated to both GLA and EDI 5 x daily on weekdays alongside Go/easyJet 3 x daily. I still have the timetables.

I do remember flying with Go from EDI to BRS in its first year of operation and there were only 27 passengers on board. It was a Tuesday night in January though and there was a second Go flight from EDI to BRS that evening. Nevertheless, I wondered how well the route would do. History tells us extremely well, in passenger numbers anyway. I assume the yield is at least satisfactory too as easyJet has slowly built it up. Perhaps there might be a further increase in rotations in the future.

I have a particular interest in EZY 405/406, the rotation cancelled yesterday, because I shall be using it in a few weeks time, although not on a Sunday in either direction.

Didn't the thunder storms we had this way carried on eastward, with I'm sure towards Europe as well. Can only guess at why and more than likely wrong.

I wondered that but a brief Internet search this morning revealed nothing.

Thomas Cook flight number MT 1711 from Kefalonia due BRS 1530 diverted to BHX. It was the only aircraft to divert today. I don't know why the diversion occurred - a technical problem needing a longer runway?

FR24 shows the aircraft as A321, G-TCDK, arriving back at BRS from BHX at 1800. Unclear whether it brought its passengers with it.

The aircraft had been due to operate to Dalaman leaving BRS at 1630. FR24 shows it departing for DLM at 1942.

Many thanks, Kingshat.

One of the easyJet Edinburghs has been cancelled today.

EZY427 sched dep 1545 returning as EZY428 at 1845. Nothing else seems to be cancelled and there doesn't appear to be any late-running aircraft that might have caused this problem.

Could be anything that warrents a flight cancelled. The 3 main things are tech aircraft, crew hours or slots weather airways or airport.
the thing with edi is that many rotations per day so a flight cancelled not too much of a problem except if some one has to be some where at a certain time.
But what ever reason its not good to see flights cancelled for what ever reason.

Heads Up!

For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours

I don't believe I am quite covering enough roles at work. Its now 4 on a bad day, 5 on a good day and there is scope for a 6th and 7th role. Still on minimum pay but had the biggest payrise in the company,
