I saw this info posted on a Facebook page so thought I'd put it here.
It looks like CWL will see more of the E190.
The 06.05 departure and the 21.30 arrival on Tuesdays and Fridays between the 7th May and 5th July have been upgraded to the E190.
Then from the 3rd September to 25th October the Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 06.05 departures have been upgraded to the E190 which also coincides with Flybe not operating the Italian and German routes. Nice little boost from KLM!

KLM Fokker 70s used to be regular visitors to CWL and i flew my first flight out of CWL on one. This article shows where many of them ended up. You'll need google translate as it's in Dutch!

Thanks for that Jerry.

I first flew on a F70 (I had flown previously on a Sabena F28 'Fellowship' that had some external similarity to the later F70), a KLM CityHopper aircraft, between Amsterdam and Bristol in 1998. It departed in the afternoon as KL1053 and routed AMS-BRS-CWL-AMS. The other KLM CityHopper rotations at that time from AMS routed separately to CWL and BRS as they do now and were F50 turbo-props.

I first started using KLM CityHopper in the early 1990s when it was formed from Netherlines/NLM CityHopper and originally it used Saab 340 aircraft on the AMS-BRS route and I think also on the AMS-CWL route. I had a few interesting flights on them.

I liked the F70. It's funny the things you remember. One evening we had a female co-pilot (who sounded very young - if it's possible to judge people's ages by their voice) who began to give us a mid-flight report. It sounded as if something had been said to her, presumably by the captain, because she suddenly burst into a fit of the giggles and try as she might could not stop them. I often wondered what had been said.

I have very fond memories of the Fokker 70. My first flight from Cardiff was on one! It's just great to see many of them stoll in use!

When Netherlines flew the Ams route from CWL and BRS they used a aircraft with about 20 to 25 seats. They did not night stop in CWL or BRS then.

Netherlines had some Jetstream31 aircraft.

I flew CWL - AMS in a Netherlines Saab340 in the mid/late 1980's. It was pretty full both ways. I have also flown in a Saab 340 of Ansett Airlines from Sydney to Coffs Harbour in New South Wales. Two things stick in my mind about the Sydney flights. The second officer was tasked with balancing the aircraft and we played musical chairs until he was satisfied with the loading. It meant that my party of five were spread around the aircraft. On the return flight, we sat where we wanted. The other thing was the food served. It was the best meal I have ever had on a flight.

Surely they aren't that good that it warrants an extra daily 737? You'd have thought the extra capacity would be on current flights.
BRS were supposedly getting one of their flights upgraded to a 737 but never materialised.
Hopefully it sells well.

Agree on surface is great news but why just for this period ? Do they know something we don’t ? If demand high why not just up guage existing services ? Could be a number of factors - Flybe ? 6 Nations ? A/c availability and not able to up gauge ? and I might as well throw Brexit in the mix (seems to be the cause of all oddities atm lol) intriguing but still very welcome !

They have made some good progress recently from CWL. They've very quickly gone from E-175 to E-190 now onto the 737-700/800. I suppose it helps having no competition on the route which they don't really have in the UK anymore as Flybe and Easyjet fly from a lot of UK airports as well as BA in London and Jet2 in the north.

This doesn't make sense. It's a Transavia aircraft rather than KL own.
You'd expect KL would upgauge current routes that are E190 from other airports.
Capacity wise this is going from 528 seats per day on E75 to 906 seats per day including 189 seat 737-800.
Knowing how KL work it takes a lot for them to upgrade to boeing as it's KL mainline rather than Cityhopper. Same product but effectively 2 different airlines. Likewise this is Transavia, so more or less an internal charter.
It's also not peak time of year and it's only a month away until it starts. There will be hardly any benefit to connections as most would've already booked long haul flights, and probably short haul.
All very strange and wouldn't be surprised to see some good fares on these flights!

It won't be the six nations France and Italy are this and next week. I can't see it being done to Flybe as a just in case or Brexit! The Cityhopper fleet is stretched so they may not be able to upgrade the current flights. On their app it says Transavia but then says KLM 737 800 so it'll be interesting to see what actually turns up!

The KLM schedule now looks like this:

November onwards

-20x E175 (incl. 6x night-stopper)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
For comparison, from the 25th Feb, BRS is:
28x weekly - (2,716 departing seats)
-21x E190 (incl. 7x night-stopper), 7x E175

It then goes to 27/28x weekly E190 from there onwards giving 2,700/2,800 departing seats per week

Could be Transavia testing the waters but under the KLM name?

No, this is purely a capacity increase at last minute, and therefore KLM using its subsidiary Transavia to supply the capacity. You've probably seen a Transavia subbing for the normal KLM when aircraft go tech before, they've certainly visited BRS for this reason. With it being winter season, the Transavia aircraft are reasonably quiet during this period.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
