Ryanair, TUI and too a lessor extent Thomas Cook are already expanding into those airports. The key question would be what would Easyjet do.The latter would be good news in the future for such airports as Exeter, Cardiff and even Newquay and Bournemouth, although the extra flights that would emanate from those airports would still emit the same gases into the atmoshere of the UK as additional flights from BRS.
From the councils point of view they'd mostly likely say that they would have to weigh that against the damage to the environment and would know want to know how many local people are employed by the airport.Surely the council would have to take into account local employment prospects and the economic contribution the airport provides to the local community . They would shoot themselves in the foot by rejecting the plans

Unless they take a as long as it's not on my doorstep attitude?although that position would hardly be justifiable from a 'green' perspective of course.
After all the conjecture recently you can expect the first update and initial programme with SN in the next few days with further update to follow.
Having just taken a look at the booking pages there seems to be some work going on as it’s showing 3 departures BRS-BRU but only on BRU-BRS. One rotation out and back suggests operated by Cityjet using a CR9, the other 2 just say Brussels Airlines.
So think it’s work in progress let’s see what transpires as the days go by.
Red Flyer who always seems well informed suggested there would be an initial programme in the first update in the next few days, with further update to follow.Having looked again it’s seems to start at once daily on a CR9, then moves to twice daily on an AR8, I wouldn’t take any of what I have said as confirmed, still think there’s more to come.
Is there any date confirmed for BRU route start date.Looks like more sensible pricing now loaded on the SN website for BRS-BRU........
The booking engine is showing from 1 September. That's been the apparent start (re-start) date on the booking engine for a couple of months or more but in the past week the site has been actively updated so it would seem that is when the service will begin again. Is there any date confirmed for BRU route start date.
More suitable for European connections maybe?Brussels goes twice a day from December. An early morning and a late pm dep from brs with the aircraft(rj85) nightstopping . Timings good from brs but not so good from bru with only late pm and late evening departures to Bristol. Not so good for connections particularly long haul
Newcastle have announced that Lufthansa from February will operate Munich 6 weekly. Anyone know if a similar announcement is due for Bristol?
If not I wonder why Newcastle can secure Lufthansa but Bristol can't?
