So I've finally booked my flights to the US but not with KLM this time but with Delta as it was £200 cheaper with them for the same itinerary! Also ticking an avgeek box!
So my itinerary is
Cardiff to Amsterdam E175 with KLM
Amsterdam to Portland A333 with Delta on 27/6.
Return on 8/7 and 9/7
Portland to LAX 717 with Delta
LAX to Amsterdam A333 with Delta
Amsterdam to Manchester E190 with KLM.
Was hoping to fly the Dreamliner with KLM on the LAX-AMS but the option didn't come up.
Also was hoping to fly into Leeds but that option cost over an extra £200 so my sister is kindly picking me up from MAN.

Yeah it will be. Got a trip to the beach planned and a road trip to Reno and California to see her family so going to be hectic.

Almost as imaginative as an acquaintance of mine who, as he's an aviation geek, found it marginally cheaper to fly LON to Poland and Poland via Copenhagen to Manchester rather than LHR/MAN direct!!

It can be cheaper to fly via an intermediate airport than fly direct.

Almost as imaginative as an acquaintance of mine who, as he's an aviation geek, found it marginally cheaper to fly LON to Poland and Poland via Copenhagen to Manchester rather than LHR/MAN direct!!

That is an imaginative way to do it!

It can be cheaper to fly via an intermediate airport than fly direct.

Flying using the direct flight from Heathrow was the cheapest option but not after I added on transport costs. It was about the same price as flying from Cardiff then.

Checked in and now ready for my flight to the USA tomorrow from Cardiff with KLM and Delta!

Now in the departure lounge waiting for my flight! The airport is the busiest I've seen it. Check in was really busy, so busy that I ended up in the beginning in the Thomas Cook queue because it was blocking the KLM queue and I wasn't alone. Security though was really quick. It is nice to see the airport so busy though I don't think the check in agent shared my enthusiasm! Lol

Had a great flight as usual with KLM which was pretty much full and now I'm waiting to board my flight with Delta. I have to say that the whole process has been a lot easier than Dublin.

Jerry - I've been out for most of the day and have only recently read your posts on today's trip. You seem to have had a very good start on the CWL-AMS leg. I hope the transatlantic sector went equally well.
