Today I used KLM at MAN and as well as using the jetbridge they also used steps at the back of the aircraft which I used. I'm surprised that they don't do something similar at CWL. Does anyone know if there's a reason why they don't? And why they stick to steps only it seems in my experience?

I have used the new jetbridge at Cardiff when I was on a KLM 737 but never on the e jets. Every time I have flown to a non uk airport on the e jets they have used jetbridges though.

And the e jets can use the stand 9 one at Cardiff as when it was first installed it was an e jet that first used it. A KLM one I think.
It just seems silly to me that they spent all that money and the main airline that uses stand 9 doesn't use it. Might as well have replaced the one on 10.

On a couple of occasions when I've used Virgin Australia B 737-800s at Melbourne Tullamarine for domestic Australian flights, those sitting at the rear have initially walked along a jet bridge before exiting down some stairs into the open air onto the apron before climbing more stairs and in through the rear doors of the aircraft. Those at the front continued along the jet bridge and entered at the front in the normal way.

I have seen at many airports in Europe especially with LCCs use a bridge at the front and steps at the back to quicken boarding.

The CAA stats for May 2019 for KLM 13,799 which equated to a LF of 86 passengers per flight with a total LF of 93.2% of seats onsale.

Reported on Facebook yesterday by Liam Williams.
KLM in September will use the E190 for the 09.55 departure every day and for the 06.00 departure on Tuesdays and Fridays. Then from October the E190 will operate the daily 06.00 departure until the end of March.

KLM update.
In September and October KLM will upgrade the 09.45 departure to an E190 as mentioned before but as well the Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (October only) 06.05 departures will be an E190 meaning on those days CWL will have 2 E190 and 1 E175 departures.

This will mean that KLM will provide an extra 888 seats in September, 444 departing seats and in October they will provide an extra 936 seats, 468 departing seats.
In total the boost will provide an extra 1824 over the 2 months, 912 departing seats.
The upgrade of the 06.05 departure to the E190 through winter will add roughly an extra 600 seats a month.

With the many and long taxi ways it makes you feel you will never get to the terminal. The video brings back memories of the times it has landed and departed from AMS.

Yep it can be a long taxi!

I'm surprised that the airport hasn't done some sort of press release about the extra seats KLM have added.

You are right Jerry about the extra seats. Its normally a new route with a fan fair and nothing about route canned.Perhaps the airport thought not high priority enough to announce it to the media about the extra seata on a established route.

I'd have thought the airport would want to trumpet any good news at the moment. Maybe they'll do it later on and link it in with team Wales heading for the world cup, would be nice to think that they would use KLM from Cardiff to go to Japan.

You know as well as me that any thing or not will happen or not in the airline industry.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
