Amplification would be appreciated.

Presumably, as the comment is in a CWL thread.
Easyjet launching anything from Cardiff would be a big aviation coup. Not likely imo but I'd love to be proved wrong, definitely more chance of Jet2.

EZY don't have the spread of bases like FR do, so unless it's a W pattern and BRS based crews, or somewhere like GVA in the winter, I can't see it happening. If anything the announcement would be at BRS. BRS would want to recover the losses from TCX, EZY could easily fill that gap without expanding over the bridge. The economies of a larger base at BRS is much more financially viable.
It would be helpful though if posters that reveal such information provide greater clarity as to what they are referring to or sources of information.

I haven’t heard anything regarding EZY, that would be a large coup and one i cannot foresee unfortunately.

Give it a few weeks and see how it goes.

A regular poster on the Dried Fruit who works for Jet2 and who says he is in a position to know has posted that there will be no new Jet2 bases in 2020.

Maybe they would consider non based flights? But it's most highly unlikely as if they ever do turn up in the area they'll probably just go to Bristol and stick a big base there and Cardiff will miss out though it might get a few extra flights from Ryanair and TUI.

You've probably read the post I referred to. He (I presume it's a he) says they are concentrating mainly on MAN.

Whilst this is contrary to the information i had last week, it does actually make perfect sense.

The UK holiday market has been saturated, hence one reason for TC struggling. Consolidation would be the best for Jet2, with growth at their established hubs.

I heard that there would be a new UK departure point for Summer 2020, so i assumed that would be the Westcountry. It now appears that info was incorrect.

I've 'liked' the post for the optimistic idea of non-based flights, not the thought that CWL might miss out. :)

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. The news items can then be shared on the site homepage by you. #TakePart #Forums4airports Bring the news to one place!
survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
