I’m not saying that it’s not good for Easy to come in, undoubtedly there will be great fares and much competition for a while, but there will be unintended consequences in time that may not be expected.
No doubt but people seem to want to risk that if it brings the brand of Easyjet to their airport.

People now want everything as cheap as possible - which they think easyJet will give them. They aren't worried that they may not be able to fly to Scotland in 2 years time.

Can't talk for anyone else, but I'm worried that the long list of unserved destinations from BHX will remain unserved without EZY opening a base here. Our current list of based airlines either don't serve those markets at all or are perfectly content to only expand in response to other airlines starting a route.

Hope EDI goes on sale over the weekend as I'm going to book myself a seat in May to do a day of Plane spotting and if the times are similar to GLA then I can go up on the morning flight (Friday) and come back on the evening flight, I've heard its quite good up there. Is that right Jerry ?

You might even get a Easyjet trip report from me :LOL::LOL:

Hi there all, I totally agree with you Coat hanger16, the more unserved from Birmingham, the worse it will be, when passengers then find an airport that flies too where Birmingham doesn't, this issue has been Birminghams problem for a very long time, but has still to be dealt with, maybe either jet2 or easyJet will resolve this, otherwise nothing will be sorted, causing lost business for Birmingham Airport... Yep Edinburgh is a great airport for planespotting!

Over a month later and EDI still not on sale, I think GLA was just over a week or so?

In all the excitement I was ready to book a weekend break but I've kind of lost interest now. Maybe when it's eventually released.

GLA took 3-4 weeks to go on sale.
Strange way of operating - announce a route then don't sell it straight away.
EDI maybe announced in December ??

easyJets EDI base increases to 9x aircraft next summer, 4x A319s, and 5x A320s - an increase of 1x A319.
Looking at a Monday next summer, the EDI-based aircraft show as operating the same flights they operated this summer, although some flights move from an A319 to A320 and vice versa.
A new flight to VRN has been added during the middle of the day on the new based A319, and a morning LGW and evening GVA move from a A320 to the new A319. This leaves BHX sized gaps morning and evening on an EDI based A320.

easyJets GLA base increases to 5x aircraft next summer, 3x A319s, and 2x A320s - an increase of 1x A319.
The BHX flights take the morning and evening slots on the new based A319 leaving a large slot in the middle of the day which has not yet been filled.

No sign of a BHX base yet!

They might be testing the water, if the flights do well they might then increase the flights to BHX from different destinations, and then from that, they might consider a base! I'm delighted we will see more orange tails on the ground at BHX soon anyway :)

I take it the "proposed" new BHX-EDI has been shelved.

It is very strange that a new route is launched months ago and still not on sale.

However Easyjet and BHX is very strange.

If it's not starting until June then a December launch will be about right i'd have thought.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
