No LPL-NQY showing for the summer , which is a pity as the frequency was increased this summer. Apparently the aircraft is shared with the GLA- NQY which apparently is not running

Obvious problems for IOM passengers. Easyjet still provide a link IOM-LPL, but frequency unless they up it, is not sufficient .

Flybe collapse affects Isle of Man hospital patients

Passengers needing to fly from the Isle of Man to hospital appointments in England have been left unable to attend following Flybe's collapse.
The airline operated daily routes to Manchester, Liverpool and Birmingham.
It also held a "patient transfer contract" to fly people to and from the north west of England for their appointments.
The island's government said it was now "talking with other airlines" about taking over the routes.
About half of the flights to and from the Isle of Man were operated by Flybe and have been cancelled.
One mother who had been due to travel to take her son to Alder Hey Children's Hospital in Liverpool said on Twitter that the collapse was "a disaster for all patients travelling from Isle of Man".
Another passenger who had been due fly to Liverpool for an appointment said: "I don't know what to do, I need to call the hospital and ask for another appointment."
About 17,000 patient transfer journeys are taken each year, the majority by air.
People are sent to UK hospitals for specialised treatments that are not available on the island, including specialised cancer treatment, burn care and transplants.
The government has contracts with several hospitals, predominantly in the North West.
Patients scheduled to travel between Thursday and Monday have been asked to book their own replacement journeys and have the cost reimbursed, or contact the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC).

The collapse could also have an impact on the treatment of patients at the island's hospital, with some visiting consultants unable to travel to hold clinics.
Specialist consultant Dr Rajinder Byal, who travels from Birmingham to work at Noble's Hospital three days a week, said his "job was at stake now".
The route was "an absolutely crucial part" of his ability to work as a brain specialist, he said, adding: "Without it basically I can't do my job."
"There is no way I can go to London and fly from there, and the closest is Bristol but it's still 80 or 90 miles away and there aren't very many flights."
Speaking in January, DHSC Minister David Ashford said there were "always contingencies", including boats and other airlines.
The government said: "We are confident that another operator will be keen to take on these popular routes."

The final Flybe flights from Liverpool and Manchester landed at Ronaldsway Airport shortly before 21:00 GMT on Wednesday.
Four other airlines operate flights to and from the island, including daily routes to London Gatwick, Liverpool and Dublin.
The island is also served by two return ferry crossings to Heysham each day.
In September last year, Flybe announced it would be scaling down its Isle of Man operations, closing its base at the island's airport and handing full control to partner Stobart Air in 2020.
A "phased" closure of the base at Ronaldsway Airport was due to be completed by the start of this summer.

Still the IOM is without a regular Liverpool link . Easyjet which is the current only option is apparently charging sky high prices for the 30 min hop, and I've read Loganair and Eastern have elected to go head to head on some of their newly announced domestic routes. 254,443 passengers used Liverpool to the island in 2019, I think IOM was better served under Manx Airlines, than the current situation.

Difficult situation, although Flybe were already winding down routes to the Island and closing its base there. Stobart are a busted flush, it would seem and happy to stay under the EI banner. Its clearly not a money spinner route, similar to Guernsey, where the Island Government bought Aurigny and have done nothing but sustain huge losses ever since. Buying the Steam Packet, though, was a sensible decision by the IoM..Its not a place that attracts many tourists and the TT races are a one off every year, so I can`t see who would want to jump onto this route.

It doesnt suprise me Eastern are chancing their arm, their track record is poor and you would not want to have to rely on them. Plus their fleet is small. Loganair will wipe the floor with them then lets see what happens.

Manx Airlines were a well respected and reliable airlines. They offered " farecracker" flights which were very well priced and equally as good as anything offered by Flybe or easy jet. They were also IOM based and were committed to serving the islanders.

Eastern are not in a good financial situation anyway, they should be careful about over-stretching themselves. The situation for IOM passengers will have to resolved somehow, you can't expect residents of the island to pay Easyjets OTT prices or sit on a boat for 5 hours, not even mentioning about medical passengers. These essential links maybe need government intervention, clearly leaving everything to the market doesn't always work.

I agree Carl but flights to/from the island have never been good or long term ish..The only option would be for the IoM Government to buy something like Aurigny, but be prepared for it costing them megabucks. Otherwise they will continue to be sad hostages to fortune due to geography. As for Eastern..well nuff said. The number of times they cancelled the LBA to Southampton flights, when subbying for Flybe, became the stuff of legend. The fleet is mixed and small and still using some Jetstream 41`s although most have been cannibalised. As for the management..........nuff said

But Easyjet do not provide frequency, they are sold out pretty much all next week. The only flights with seats are Weds IOM-LPL £269.00 single . and next Saturday LPL-IOM £282.00 single. No flights operating at all on Tuesday.

Manx was part of the British Midland group from what I recall, I don't know if the was any IOM Govt financial input.

Some more new with respect to IOM travel. ( BBC)

Flybe collapse: Update on Isle of Man flights to UK due 'next week'

A new carrier for flights between the Isle of Man and north-west England is "expected" to be announced next week, the chief minister has said.
Flybe's collapse spelt the end for all routes to Manchester and Birmingham and a reduction in flights to Liverpool.
Howard Quayle said a new contract for patient transfer services would be in place "early next week".
However, a likely date for the resumption of regular flights to the three cities has not yet been decided.
Taking over the "profitable routes" was "in the interest of carriers", Mr Quayle said.
Responding to criticism of the speed at which the government reacted to the collapse, he insisted it had "put in contingency plans as quickly as possible".
Mr Quayle said the Department of Infrastructure had been in talks with other operators since shortly after the carrier went bust on Thursday.
"We've been fast out of the blocks on this one," he said.

However, Mr Quayle admitted new operators may want to "scale back" the frequency of flights from what had previously been available.
This would be a short term measure in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak.
He said: "I think it would be unrealistic to have a 100% normal service in the current climate. But we would look to have the same level of service going forward."
Contingency plans for getting Manx patients to UK hospital appointments via ferry to Heysham were announced on Thursday.
But Mr Quayle ruled out bringing the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company's fast craft, Manannan, back into service early to provide transport to Liverpool.
"We'll have the contract in place and they will be operating the service fairly early next week," he said.
The catamaran does not operate during the winter months due to the conditions in the Irish Sea.

Apparently Flybe are operating a number of training flights from the airport today. They arrived late morning. I wonder if they may re appear with a route or two from Liverpool in the future. Obviously IOM has gone now to Loganair, but there are other possibilities.

If Flybe mark2 are to set up a base in Belfast, and presuming this is BHD, I would have thought BHD-LPL was a strong contender form their considerations. The route is vacant, they would have to compete with EZY from BFS, but it's a big market between Liverpool and Belfast, so if they timed it right and performed better than the first Flybe, they could do well .
