Any airline wanting to be a serious player in UK domestic market will take on those old routes.They may just need to look at something "different" as the old routes are generally snapped up by others.
Not always for the better though. First's rail franchise for South West England and South Wales now has the brass neck to call itself Great Western Railway. Mentioning First in the same breath as the original iconic Great Western Railway is like me buying some paints and saying I'm the new Rembrandt.I like it and with specific reference to your comment @KARFA I would love to see former failed airline names back in the sky. Thomas Cook, Air Europe Monarch etc. People have fickle memories, and most people generally have fond memories of former airlines.
