What about Aer Lingus flying to the states from LBA using their A321's. Just imagine.:eek:
Now THAT would require a new terminal! LBA management want to operate such flights but it will not happen with the current terminal and its significant limitations. With a new terminal, it just might, with some airline who sees LBA as an opportunity.

I wonder if the Stobart fleet including their crews will just transfer over to Emerald? Seems logical in a way and the aircraft are already in the required livery. Otherwise Emerald are going to have to source a fleet of suitable aircraft and crews in advance of the change-over date. In this country we would just TUPE people across at least but not sure how it works in the Republic of Ireland.

Sadly it looks like Aer Lingus Regional franchise operator Stobart Air have made the decision to axe any plans to try restart the Leeds-Bradford - Dublin route during the current winter 2020/21 schedule.
It was until recently bookable (13x weekly) from January 21st 2021, but now the next available bookable flights are from Sunday, March 28th 2021, which is actually the the start date of the summer 2021 schedule timetable.

I'll post the planned summer 2021 schedule shortly,

Some potentially good news for when we finally get the Aer Lingus fights back to Dublin - a code share agreement with American Airlines, which should open up many more direct booking routes from Leeds via Dublin.

From this coming Sunday, February 7th 2021 Aer Lingus regional are further reducing ops on the Leeds to Belfast City service to just 3x weekly, Mondays, Fridays and Sundays.
This schedule is planned to operate for just 3+ weeks until March 1st 2021 when daily flight are due to resume hopefully.

Flights will operate as follows.

Mondays
EI3670 = BHD 10:00 - LBA 11:10 / EI3671 = LBA 11:40 - BHD 12:45
Fridays & Sundays
EI3678 = BHD 18:20 - LBA 19:30 / EI3679 = LBA 20:00 - BHD 21:15

Well Eastern had better source some more ATR72's sharpish, as the J41 is no good on either Belfast or Dublin. I wonder if Eastern will agree a franchise deal with Aer Lingus? Let's hope so.

Terrible news for LBA, Aer Lingus themselves, particularly bad for Belfast City Airport, but most of all for the staff at Stobart Air.

Aer Lingus had awarded the new franchise for EI regional flights to Emerald Airlines so it was always going away from Stobart. The problem now is Emerald we’re not due to take over until the end of 2022 or start of 2023, so who knows what happens now with those routes.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
