Do we know yet which seats are likely to be dropped
From what I've seen speculated some of the Valleys seats will be merged along with some western seats. I've seen it suggested that Presili Pembrokeshire, Aberavon, Bridgend and Rhondda could be lost and merged with other seats.

Northern Wales will go potentially from 11 to 8 seats (Ynys Mon isn't included).
It'll really depend on how the boundary commission shape the new seats.
Makes me wonder if the constituency that the airport is in Vale of Glamorgan could go? With the western part merged with Bridgend and the eastern part Cardiff West?

I see. I think the airport could potentially end up in Cardiff West?

merging Bridgend with the vale could make it much easier for the tories to win there! Cardiff West potentially easier for Labour to win?

In reality then it would mean that the Tories would lose a seat. There will no doubt be some more marginal seats created.

Welsh covid patients to be sent to English hospitals to help ease the burden on the Welsh NHS.

nice to see the UK working together instead of infighting.
Yes, I saw a copy of the letter Hancock sent to Drakeford copied on one of the news channels. That is obviously entirely the right course to take if the Welsh NHS is overrun. There can be no argument about that. It would be so if the reverse was the case.

With the recalculated infection figures Wales's main cities now have incredibly high infection rates. Today Newport is 832 per 100,000, Swansea 751 and Cardiff 612. Bridgend is an astonishing 919 per 100,000. With rates like that they would be by far the worst tier 3 areas if they were in England. South Gloucestershire for example has been kept in tier 3 with a rate today of 165 per 100,000 which is considered high compared with the rest of South West England with South Gloucestershire the only tier 3 area in the entire English South West region from this Saturday.

I expressed surprise in this thread a week or two ago that the WG was allowing its residents to visit tier 1 and tier 2 areas in England after so long basically putting up the drawbridge to all but essential travel between the two countries, yet keeping out residents from tier 3 areas in England with far lower infection rates than areas and towns and cities in Wales.

The situation in Wales could also impact the tier status in some areas in England if local hospitals there have to factor in additional patients from outside their area.

The devolved governments and the Westminster government that rules England really must come to a consensus in dealing with this pandemic as what one does or does not do can affect the others. Will they though? I think we already know the answer to that.

i’m not sure if it would. Perhaps 2019 was an anomaly in that labour won bridgend but it has got more marginal over the years, incorporating half a massive tory area would make the new bridgend very marginal indeed. Probably a good thing!

i live in one of the welsh area’s you mentioned in your post and I can confirm covid is rampant here currently. We know multiple people that have it or have been advised to isolate by contact tracers include someone in my household.

it’s so bad here i’m actually supporting the next lockdown to a certain extent. The problem is with Welsh Government they are useless at reviewing things as and when required.

Absolutely Shocking.

like Westminster the decision is made by an independent panel.

Like Westminster the decision is made by an independent panel. I would love to know why that panel thinks it's appropriate at this time to give the increase.
I'd expect especially the Plaid MSs will donate the rise to charity.

Sorting out a pay rise with all the covid 19 problems with health and families with money problems due to covid. Its not as thou they can go any where to spend it.Dare i say it it looks like the Welsh govermment has got a ever lasting money tree some where.

Westminster is no better. I had a rant yesterday in the BRS Random thread about it.

Problem is that it's not the government that decides it but an independent panel same as wetminster.

The Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) earlier said that Westminster MPs would be in line for a £3000 pay rise if the usual formula for their pay was followed.

However, IPSA now says that such a rise would be 'inconsistent' and 'would not reflect the reality that many constituents are facing'.

Given that many public sector workers are facing a pay freeze imposed by the Westminster government it seems hypocritical in the extreme if MPs received a pay rise.

I'm assuming that pay rates for most of the type of public sector worker whose pay will be frozen - civil servants, teachers, police officers, firefighters, the armed forces, and council staff for example - come under the auspices of the Westminster government when it comes to setting pay in Wales, particularly with such occupations as the armed services and police service.

I might be wrong with this assumption because I don't know which Welsh public servant pay rates are the responsibility of the WG or whether the WG has imposed a pay freeze on any public sector workers for which it sets pay rates.

I'm sure we have members with a greater grasp of the subject than mine.

I’m not sure how it works - but the welsh parliament needs to rapidly repeal this.

it’s a disgrace as people lose their jobs and income. whoever is on the so called panel should be fired.
I'd be surprised but do hope that they reject it. I expect that they won't but I think each ms can choose to reject it or give the rise to charity.

If they do reject the pay rise i hope its rejected for the right reason. That they reject it as so many have lost jobs and many are struggling with no money,or they reject it for a higher rise in what they been offered. Lets hope they do the right thing, and when has it to be settled by.

Pretty sure it doesn't work like a union negotiation. If rejected then no rise. Personally I think the senedd needs more members not a pay rise.

More politicians? Blooming heck, Jerry! :)

Yep the Senedd should have a minimum of 80 members imo. There was vote before but Labour rejected it it. For the responsibilities it has the Senedd numbers is quite low. Hopefully one day Wales will even have a second chamber! Transfer 32 member's from a place in London for that! :)

In 1 of the posts you wrote Jerry, you said Wetminster,i liked the wetminster bit a lot as it sums up a lot of things that come out of there very well.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
