LichfieldBlue, thanks for posting. We had been looking at going to Auckland in Jan/Feb. We had been looking at fares/routes for a few weeks but could not find a fare that suited us, and had given up. Next day, your post turns up, i looked again but for Feb/March and managed to find a really decent fare, in fact the cheapest fare i had seen, especially flying Singapore airlines from/to Auckland. We are flexible on dates which helps, as the cheaper fare on Swiss only seems to be available on one day a week.

So, booked this morning business class :
Bhx - Zurich - Sin- Akl...........Swiss A220 - B777 - Sin A380
Akl - Sin - Munich - Bhx ......Sin A380 - LH A350 - A319

Thanks again, i now have a very happy wife
We head out on Valentine’s Day, it’ll save me getting a card 😉, back 8 weeks later.

Have a great time

Just dropped off our bags using the Jet2 Twilight Check-In service. Took not much more than 20 mins from leaving the car to getting back to it. T2 wasn't busy but there were quite a few others also dropping off bags, ideal if you live local or are staying close by.

We parked in car park one and the lady did tell us that we were entitled to a reduced rate if we let them know we were using this service (she thought it was something like £2 but couldn't be sure). Sadly nobody at NCP answered the intercom so I got fed up and just paid the full amount.

Hi Ray, I always enjoy your comments on here. Believe it or not I managed to book all Lufthansa and Air New Zealand for £3049 each which although a lot of money is ultra low. It’s my retirement treat for my good lady and traveling from BHX just makes it a bit more special.

Enjoy your own holiday 😎

Could I be so bold as to ask who you booked through . I’m looking at SYD - BHX rtn in October and I’ve been looking at > $12K for business class . I’m wiliing to consider any options if cheaper . Thanks in advance .

Hi Dave, I booked using Skyscanner as my search engine and the fare was available through a few companies but I used Expedia purely because of brand.

I think there are huge variations depending on when you go and what route you take. My flight from Singapore to Perth is going to be another £300 or so on Scoot in their premium seats which obviously adds a bit to the fare as well as the internals. Hope that helps and good luck with your plans

Thank you for your info. We are regular travellers between SYD and the UK , usually in the “ back seats “ , the number of flights we take dictate our back pocket . I have used Skyscanner and Expedia in the past , but always on the lookout for that bargain . We have flown with Scoot a couple of times on the SYD-SIN route , their premium seats are the business class of yesteryear , perfectly good and great value , just don’t expect good food , but their again it’s not a long flight from SIN to PER . My best wishes to you and hope you have a wonderful trip .

Next November my parents are flying with TUI to Gran Canaria I think for a Marenella Cruise hopefully there first time flying out of BHX goes well. In 2020 before Covid was even a thing we were due to fly to Sofia with Lufthansa from Birmingham to Frankfurt/Munich on the morning flight then back from Munich/Frankfurt on the late night arrival we were going to go for Christmas. But Covid happened then eairler this year My Parents had booked to go to Budapest with Love Holidays on Wizz Air who changed the flights, my parents said yes we would like that flight please again from BHX but the Holiday Company or Airline never put them on it. So it will be there third time lucky out of BHX hopefully. I have ever only ever flew from LHR with them to Vancouver and onto Victoria in 2019 then to New York in 2022. My Stepmum has flew out of LHR to JFK with her daughter a fair while ago was due to be LGW but BA Cancelled the flight they did fly back to LGW or may have been LHR. My Dad as a young adult/Kid has flew out of BHX to Greece and maybe Milan in the 90's and 2000's he flew to Crete. I'm sure he said he was allowed in the cockpit as it was his birthday and flew on an A320 to Milan and possibly Crete.

I arrived back at BHX on Monday on my return from Montreal on eildelweiss A340-300 (first for me) a great airliner unfortunately arrived into ZRH late & missed Helvetic connection & was swiftly given boarding passes on DLH via FRA & arrived back at BHX around 12:30 & thru border control in 5 minutes & amazingly my cases had made it with me & i was at International station before 13:00
well done BHX

Jet2 has cancelled my flight to Vienna and put me on a Manchester flight instead. It shouldn’t affect my ability to travel but still a big disappointment - and if they are merging flights then that’s rather concerning for the BHX-VIE route!

Did Jet2 give you the option to cancel and get a refund?
Lon-Vie for as low as £18 o/w hand baggage only

Thanks for the heads up Karl, but I think the coach prices and timings to Manchester on that day will work much better for me than to London (unless I get up at about 3AM). The daytime coaches to Gatwick and Stansted are more expensive than the flights!

Also Jet2 are responsible for your extra costs getting to and from MAN, regardless of the notice period or the cancellation reason. So do claim them back from the airline.

Just arrived into BHX this morning from Barbados on G-TUIM.115mph tailwind....661mph made for a quickish flight. Flew out on G-TUIO two weeks ago and the terminal was in a bit of disarray, but we all know why. Security was working like clockwork and was thru very quickly. Not particularly important, but could BHX bring back the smoking area now they've postponed/cancelled the terminal upgrade.
Didn't take long today to get my suitcases so all good 👍👍

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
