Hope. EK. stays away all they will do is damage TK & QR and most likely take passengers from GLA. They had their chance. QR stuck by EDI during covid
also DOH is a better transfer point.
Do not forget the terminal is at it limit for no. of passengers, and I don’t see anything happening with it until it is sold

Do you not think competition will be better with three airlines serving the Middle East and onward?

I agree with you. Competition is needed. QR have had a great free run at EDI for some time now. They’ve smashed it really. Good on them though for operating during the pandemic despite the gov imposed restrictions. 30k plus pax per month tells me there is more than enough demand to sustain at least one other ME carrier. Various sources close to EK have commented recently that they expect the EDI route to resume S24.

Will QR add the much rumoured 3rd daily from EDI? I wouldn’t be surprised to see them mirror the EK evening departure, possibly on a 788. QR did drop fares by a very modest amount following the EK announcement. This could suggest that advanced bookings is very strong.

QR is a very careful airline. Even if they were planning a third daily, I would strongly suspect they will hold off any expansion now. Scotland to Middle East must be getting towards capacity at this stage, particularly given EK’s strong presence at GLA.

The battle for business go well beyond the ME. Both QR and EK recognise the expansion potential in Asia and Africa. India and Pakistan being two good examples. The Chinese market is also vast. Lots of capacity still to be realised to/from Scotland.

The introduction of the A350 to Edinburgh has been delayed according to the Emirates website when making a booking.

The A350-900 has been replaced by a 2 class B777 until December 2nd, although the seat map suggests B772 I would not be surprised if it changes to the B773 as far more of them are available.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
