One thing that infuriates me about the UK is Litter. A recent survey by " Keep Britain Tidy" revealed 90 % of the UK https://www.circularonline.co.uk/ne...-in-england-contain-litter-keep-britain-tidy/ .

I cycle quite a bit, and live in a rural area, even country lanes are not safe, with cans and bottles chucked out of cars. Its highly depressing and I wonder why, I don't believe it was always this way. Our area has done a litter pick along the main A road which gets blighted, but its a thankless task, because it just comes back. Do more people not care about their country anymore, something has gone badly wrong,

I agree. I was brought up not to drop litter. I don't do it and I never have and that is what I teach my children. Sadly not all parents teach their children to look after what they have and I have even seen parent discard rubbish on the pavement in front of their children. I don't even like people throwing cigarette tab ends on the floor. I don't know why some people think it's acceptable. I few years back we took our children to the Bradford Media museum. We went on the train but we're astounded by the amount of litter just dumped and built up at the edges of the line and on the embankments. So on top of the people who do this not caring, the authorities seemingly don't care about cleaning it up either.

One of the worst area for it are slip roads off motorways and major trunk roads, people must drink and eat as they are driving then chuck it out when they pause on a slip road. I agree about the cigarette butts, that is definitely litter and is not acceptable. Don't get me onto dog poo bags !!

It is the result of lack of discipline by parents with their children. Our children were brought up not to drop litter and, as far as I aware, they do not drop - in my presence at least.

What more can I say... As has already been said I was brought up to respect our countryside and to take litter home. In the village that I am fortunate (well I say village, but it's really a suburb on the western outskirts of Warrington) we are fortunate to have a parish Councillor who spends a lot of her time going around doing litter picking, but it must be so depressing to see it all back the next day.
I use the local buses and am also annoyed by the people who drop cigarette butts on the ground as their bus arrives - these are both young and old.
Dog poo is another really annoying thing. Yes, I love dogs and, I must admit that when in my late 20s, I use to walk my talk and get him to do his 'business' in the gutter. That way at least you wouldn't walk in it! Nowadays I am dog less, but I am horrified at the number of owners who just do not have a care in the world about where their dog drops its muck and are too lazy to clean up after it.
Sorry, but rant over:rage:

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
