You would think KLM would take bookings up to the maximum for the scheduled aircraft type. If they substitute a smaller aircraft they are potentially in an overbooking situation. They would then presumably either offer incentives to the 'overbooked' pax, or fly them to Manchester instead.
Yep they'll just rebook the passengers.

And yet if FR is correct the Eastern E170 arriving at LBA tonight at 22.50 will be operating tomorrow’s Teeside 06.00 departure to Amsterdam whilst tomorrow’s 06.20 departure from LBA is down to be operated by a KLM E170. If correct this must make sense to the two operators but certainly not to me.

How often is it that the flights are actually full? They tend to operate in the region of 60% LF so I doubt the reduction in capacity is an issue. KLM themselves will use whichever size aircraft is appropriate. I’m also not sure what patterns the aircraft are doing, the HUY and BRS based ones do w patterns so you won’t necessarily see the same aircraft operating the full 3 scheduled flights from LBA.

I’d often be cautious of relying too much on FR24. A recent KLM flight for me where I made use of the onboard WIFI had me sat in the origin airport when I was 2 hours into the flight prompting people to message me asking whether I’d miss my connection. I didn’t.

As it turns out FR now shows an all Eastern operation today!

Seems you were right about FR!

For anyone interested in why the T3 takeover was somewhat delayed, a post on the dried fruit forum suggests it was a delay in paperwork due weight and balance following respray which was KLM issue not a T3 one. The poster also reiterated what I’ve heard, that KLM are happy with the partnership and the only problem in their eyes is that T3 aren’t able to take on more bases just yet.

I've noticed T3 operating one of the Manchester flights over the last 7 days or do.
They’ve been doing this for a while. I was working out of Manchester in October and they were doing the early afternoon rotation then. I’m not sure if it was a regular thing or just a stand in on the request of KLM when required.

The 4x Eastern E190s during weekdays operate the following:

LBA-AMS-LBA-AMS-MAN-AMS-LBA-AMS-LBA

BRS
-AMS-NWI-AMS-BRS-AMS-BRS-AMS-BRS

MME
-AMS-MME-AMS-NCL-AMS-MME-AMS-MME

HUY
-AMS-HUY-AMS-GLA-AMS-HUY-AMS-HUY

Note: Given all 4x E190s are on the ground at the same time in AMS four times each day, this means that aircraft regularly swap around bases.

Oh dear - check out this week's history for KL1020 - I'm, hoping the airport has some influence over KLM to try to get this back on track as its not going well.......

One month into Eastern operating the route and it’not good, but to be honest I think we all knew this would happen.

But we keep getting told Eastern are the saviour of KLM’s Amsterdam services to Leeds along with Humberside, Teesside & Bristol.

Well the stats show the truth. The unreliability / on time performance is having an effect on passengers numbers now, how long will KLM put up with this & would yourselves take a bet on it turning up on time?

Whilst MAN get 321 NEO's going in we are left with Eastern cr*p operation. I hope this isn't a nail in the coffin for KLM/LBA operations, even BRS/HUY/MME operations for them. Really disappointing. Hope U2 does jump on the route for P2P.

U2 are not the answer.I am prepared to bet the vast majority of pax are making KL connections.

I think if i was connecting flights at AMS id prefer to fly U2 out of LBA if they were ops! Id be worried sick using the LBA klm service and prob use dare i say it MAN which is prob what folk are doing.
LBA has such a big catchment area so it always baffles me why KLM mainline have not give LBA a go, something on the lines of x3 daily, morning and eve 737-7 and midday e170 with competitive pricing abit more in line with MAN, does not have to be as lowcost as MAN but the fact it would take out the dreaded M62 journey and flying a comfy 737 mainline would work i feel, altho yes it did nearly happen until covid hit.

Jet2 were very successful on the AMS route alongside KLM. There's room for both as there's demand for point to point as well as interlining passengers. So Easyjet may not be the answer to KLMs problems but they are definitely needed to bolster a route which is diminishing when it shouldn't be.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
