I have previously commented on the non existent Easy jet advertising in respect of advertising hoardings at LBA which I find quite baffling for a relatively new operator the airport is seemingly keen to keep. Plenty of Jet 2 and TUI visibility.
As for advertising the majority if not all of it will be down to the airline not the airport. The airport will promote routes through their website and in the media but the airlines pay for advertising locations around the airport and its up to them to advertising. It maybe that the locations used by Jet2 have been purchased for a set duration to secure prime spots around the terminal.

Jet2, at the moment, have the LBA market reasonably well cornered. However as pax start to see U2 aircraft at LBA that is a certain amount of self-advertising, but doesn't show much commitment so I too agree the lack of advertising is a strange one. Equally that could suggest U2 are perfectly happy with where they are at re LBA. Unless of course they Still Haven't Found What They Are Looking For!

Good outbound figure for first Wednesday in Feb! Inbound not bad considering BCN isn’t served by anyone in Jan, good for easy

Which was a shame in January. I had to fly Manchester Barcelona Asturias and would have used this service if flights were available. Vueling from Manchester was pretty much full
Looks like Ryanair have x3 daily on some days MAN BCN in Jan. Shame easy/Ryanair or Jet2 couldnt maintain even a weekly BCN service.

I'm not too sure that is necessarily the case. If Jet2 only have so many aircraft they can base at Leeds, they may regard other more profitable destinations as a priority. If and when the council stop trying to adjitate the planning process to allow more flights, then maybe then Jet2 will look again at the LBA wishlist.

Its very evident Jet2 have spare aircraft laying around in winter especially the 737-300's. My point being if FR can maintain x3 daily on top of Vueling at MAN. (Pretty sure Jet2 operate MAN BCN in Jan also, its on sale for next year). So the point being why cant anybody do a weekly service from LBA, surely there has to be some potential there. The night quota has nothing to do with it.

100% agree ZB757. I think the days of January being a quiet month are being dispelled. Many people actually prefer some city breaks away from the hustle and bustle of spring summer. The flight out was a mix of football fans going to Barcelona and beyond as well as city breakers. The point you are making is valid, possibly 20 flights plus in January from Manchester zero from Leeds Bradford. Perhaps Aena will fill these gaps

Looking at MAN-BCN

January 22X Weekly

easyJet 2X Weekly
Jet2 2X Weekly
Ryanair 12X Weekly
Vueling 6X Weekly

February 28X Weekly

easyJet 3X Weekly
Jet2 4X Weekly
Ryanair 12X Weekly
Vueling 9X Weekly

Yes, it's disappointing to see. However, I think this is a question of individual airlines as opposed to a wider picture. To have Ryanair on the route would surely be a godsend, strong year-round demand and their tendency to maintain respectable frequencies on routes like this would be perfect. If Jet2 expand further out of LBA after the new development I can see the route going year round, I do wonder whether it's more crew-based if anything that stops them from operating year-round, or policy of some description. easyJet I can see going year round soon enough, whether it's next year or when they establish their base (optimism can only be the way forward regarding an orange base surely). Vueling is an airline I'd like to see back at LBA now we've established ourselves a bit more (yes, we were well established by 2016, but air travel I feel is more robust now).

Either way, I feel we're straying a little bit off topic

Today has been the restart of the route to Paris CDG
Today's easyJet flights have been:
TimeAirlineFlight NumberDestinationActualAircraftStand
14:45easyJetU24638Paris CDG15:05OE-IJZ (Airbus A320)7
15:55easyJetU250Belfast Intl16:53G-EZRY (Airbus A320)7

15:25easyJetU249Belfast Intl16:03G-EZRY (Airbus A320)7
Loads

Paris CDG: Outbound 176 (94.6%) / Inbound 65 (34.9%) (Error margin present for inbound, negligible for outbound)
Belfast Intl: Outbound 166 (89.2%) / Inbound 169 (90.9%) (Negligible error margin for both)

Tomorrow the Barcelona loads look like they will be decent (not stellar, but respectable). However the outbound Geneva looks dire, to the point where I pray easyJet will keep the route into next winter

As discussed before the GVA outbound is dire I’m sure easyJet are well aware, was the same last year and is on sale for the same next year so maybe it’s preforming OK considering! (I do hope easy extend the 6 week offering / even add additional days) it is a poor offering but better then nothing

We had our first easyJet A321NEO today

15:25easyJetU249Belfast Intl15:13G-EZDV (Airbus A319)7

Loads:
Belfast Intl: 152/156 (97.4%), 133/156 (85.3%)
Paris CDG: 218/235 (92.8%), 75/235 (31.9%) (Inbound subject to 20% margin of error)

Overall, a good day for loads, definitely worth putting on the A321NEO. Hopefully we'll see more as easyJet expand out of LBA

Tomorrow's Geneva outbound is looking healthy, 167 to be precise. Haven't checked the inbound yet, but I'm sure it'll be a familiar tale. Nor have I checked Barcelona, but from memory the outbound was looking good from a brief glance

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
