Random Stuff!!

Good article but it needs to be remembered by people like this that airports facilitate aviation activities. In this instance Global Trek providing services to the US military in handling and refueling aircraft.
I suspect very much the UK government answer will be waffle.

Rumours suggest that Cardiff could be host to next years BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend music festival (normally weekend of spring May bank holiday)

I remember when it was in Swansea back in 2018 and Taylor Swift flew into CWL from the USA on a 767 and then helicoptered to Singleton Park.

Such an event would bring some interesting traffic to the likes of CWL!

🤞

I think it would be held in Cardiff, as an aside Hollywood Vampires playing Cardiff Castle , Alice Cooper, Johnny Depp. Joe Perry tonight using 9 tour busses, chaos in town.

Well I hope the minister will be using Cardiff Airport especially as it has a North America hub route.

Tricky one this. What she should be doing is going the cheapest possible fare. After all it is being paid for by tax payers money. On the other hand, she should be seen to be utilising the airport appropriately.

For a new government especially a nationalist government the look of not using Wales only national airport wouldn't be good especially when there are flights that could be used especially WestJet though ironically KLM would probably be the best option. It's a bit different to say travelling to Guernsey where there's no option from Wales. Tbf they're probably get criticised whatever they do.

It would be good if a member of the airport management, would be going with her, to bring the airport to the notice of different American Airlines.

I'd expect the focus for her would be on culture but if Cardiff is to ever attract a US route it probably needs the government to engage more with US organisations to create the demand for Wales as a tourist and cultural destination.

  • Current Status: Structural alterations began in 2025. The construction teams are modifying and lengthening the facility to transition BAMC from one flexible bay to two fully flexible maintenance bays. in Linkedin +2
  • The Goal: Historically, the BAMC hangar was only large enough to service British Airways' Boeing 777 and 787 widebody fleets. These alterations will allow the facility to fit and maintain the much larger Airbus A350-1000 aircraft. A Arup +2

The facility is expected to be fully operational for Airbus A350 maintenance once the final handovers conclude later this year.
