It looks as if MAN's flights for S2017 have now been loaded. Nurnberg, Berlin, Hamburg and Wroclaw follow through from winter but I can't see anything else new from a quick review, although this may well not be the final schedules. Frequency on a few routes I checked in June are similar although a couple I thought showed a slight decrease - but it was for June and not July/August.

Is any announcement expected for MAN do we know? I gather LPL have got 5 new routes and increased frequencies on some others - 11% increase in seats apparently. It seems MAN can't accommodate more based a/c (MOL reckons there will be no new based a/c in the UK anyway) and we are already well catered for with flights with non-based a/c.

I've been told the MAN schedules are still very much a work in progress. Have been told to expect at least 2 new destinations (as in all new and not just winter continuations), with significantly increased away based flight options.

There will be no new based aircraft, in line with the rest of the U.K. And MOL stating no new based aircraft for UK (there is an issue that I don't think MAN could see any new based aircraft even if MoL were willing given constraints in T3).

Thanks for that User001. There must surely be pressure on MAN to find some way to expand T3 and the apron that's not too expensive.

Meanwhile, more flights with away based a/c would be fine.

Looks like just the 4 new winter routes running through into summer and Torp replacing Rygge.
Still a decent increase if it does amount to 13% compared to s2015.

Vigo would be nice, but we are already well linked with Kos and Luxembourg.

It completely slipped my mind that we also have FR serving Oslo (albeit not Gardermoen) and it is a decent increase in operations.

I have now had a look at the currently published 2017 summer timetable.

Based on what is currently showing

9 Based aircraft are required.
There are a number of gaps where flights could be added
149 return flights by based A/C
122 by non based
Increase of 23 return flights over last year.

Well, given we have 8 based at the moment, 9 based would go against the 'no extra aircraft in the U.K.' Mantra.

Is it a clear 9 based or could the flights easily be shuffled back into 8 again as would be surprised to have an extra based aircraft?

With the exception of Tuesday and Wednesday all other days require 9 aircraft for the first wave and also 9 for late night arrivals.

There is no doubt based on what is in the timetable 9 are required. Of course thing could be shuffled but to maintain the flights you would need to use more non based aircraft.

MOL is good with words and as we know he can make 2+2 look like 6. Maybe none of the new aircraft will be based in the UK but he can and does move aircraft around all the time and so older aircraft could be moved within the the UK or to the UK from EU Countries

Well, it's certainly welcome, I was told there would be at least 3 new routes so with the gaps, there is still time for those to be added.

Interestingly, I wonder if this makes Manchester the only place to get an extra based aircraft next summer, as I'm not aware of any other airports reporting an extra based aircraft based on timetable searches.

I was surprised as well. As I said 9 is required based on what the timetable currently shows. It is however always possible for things to be shuffled but it would I think required more non based and re-timing of many flights so I think what is showing is reasonably accurate but with gaps to fill.

Maybe those 3 destinations you mention may get in later.

What does disappoint me is the likes of Shannon. EI did this twice a day. FR come along and we are down in 2017 to 5 per week. For that reason I would prefer they not go after LUX

Reports are just emerging that Ryanair is currently in a spat with the Greek government over airport taxes. Routes to Kos are specifically mentioned as being affected. That would account for the absence of MAN-KGS in the Summer '17 launch so far.

Thanks for the figures. Just some comments on them.
Based on those, weekly departures increase from 248 to 271, and 23 extra is less than 10% increase. Yet the Ryanair press release mentioned 13% capacity growth, which would require some 32 extra weekly departures.

The 3 new winter routes to Germany are all showing daily next July and Wroclaw is 3 x weekly, so they account for 24 more departures. Then there are the extra frequencies mentioned - are they reflected in the loaded schedules yet?

Of course, there may be some frequency reductions as well which naturally RYR wouldn't refer to. Not checked recently but when the Ireland flights were first loaded, there appeared to be reductions to both DUB & SNN.

Convenient of Ryanair to ignore the frequency reductions which cancel out the increases. I guess we just have to wait to see if these are the final schedules or whether gaps will be filled. Thanks for your input anyway.

I noticed an error in my figures in that the split between based and non based flights was wrong.

The correct figures are
Based 156
Non based 115

Also as you say if we ignore the new destinations for summer there would in fact be a reduction of 1 flight.However there maybe more to come.

Hello from Peschiera del Garda.
Flew on Ryanair Manchester-Milan Bergamo

Extremely high load factors and lots of inbound Italian tourism on the flight. Very encouraging for Milan and Manchester, considering there is also flights with Easy and Flybe. Very impressed with the numbers. Ryanair...not so much, but that is besides the point. Milan is an amazing city to visit, extreme contrasts between modern and historical and the lake Garda area is beautiful. Even in the October cloud, Italy is an amazing place to explore.

While in T3, the Air France load looked pretty massive to, with both o+d and connecting pax for an A320.
