Washington is also being explored as a potential destination from Edinburgh alongside Boston, New York and San Francisco. Boston is a dead cert according to Mr Kjos.

When I saw this posted on another forum, people were talking as if it was news confirmed today. Its only stuff that followers of BHX/MAN already know. Buts lets hope this rumour is confirmed soon for all airports involved.

That's interesting Jfy1999, I wonder if they would ever consider just operating domestic flights such as BHX to EDI ??

It looks as if Norwegian will launch EDI/MAN-JFK flights from May 2017. Reported to be on sale soon with fares starting from £200.

It would be great as a late afternoon departure to differentiate from AA, DL, UA.

Great for EDI as they now have in summer, daily 763 DL, daily 752 AA, double daily UA 752 and now DY 738M.

Norwegian will take delivery of six new Boeing 737MAX aircrafts in April. These will be used to launch a new direct service from Edinburgh to New York a few months later with prices as low as $69 (£56).

Norwegian currently operates services twice a day from Gatwick to New York with prices starting from £125 for a single journey. The lower fares will only apply to flights from Edinburgh, where it is launching a service for the first time using the new aircraft.

Norwegian expands summer 2017 flights at Edinburgh


From 26 March – getting to Copenhagen is now easier with six Norwegian flights per week departing the Scottish capital for the Danish capital, up from the current two per week.
From 26 March – Norwegian will double the number of weekly flights to Oslo with six per week
From 28 March – Stockholm becomes more accessible with a third weekly service operating on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays
From 29 March – Norwegian’s popular newest route to Barcelona returns with a twice-weekly service on Wednesdays and Saturdays

No they haven't. I think that BrumX may be referring to the pending APD cut which of course is in the process of being devolved to Scotland. Although I don't see why that is a negative thing.

Becouse it puts English regional airports at a huge disadvantage in my opinion. But yes its not all negative, great if you live in Scotland and want to fly to the USA cheap.

The APD cut isn't guaranteed though I might be wrong. The negative about it is Scotland being given preferential treatment over other UK airports or that one devolved government can have control yet another can't.

Norwegian in recent schedule update has moved forward planned Boeing 737MAX 8 debut on Edinburgh – Oslo route, 5 months earlier than planned. Revised operation sees Norwegian Air International (D8) 737MAX 8 operating daily from 01JUN17 to 28OCT17 (4 weekly from 29OCT17).

Operational schedule changes will also be in effect, with daytime operation, instead of evening 6 weekly Norwegian Air Shuttle (DY) 737-800 service.

Seems Norwegian are at least committed to EDI on their Spain-UK routes as TFS is now bookable along with BCN next summer. AGP not available yet but it looks like very few destinations have been loaded out of AGP thus far.

Still waiting to see what happens with BHX and MAN.

Not excatly surprising, always seemed a bit of an oddball route even for Norwegian. Hopefully this isn’t the start of a trend for transatlantic, low cost, narrow body operations. Perhaps Bradley was just too obscure a destination? It’s no secret I have my doubts about Primera but at least they are operating into the main airports.
