  • I have a book called the Austerity Olympics about the post-WW2 London Games in 1948 and it was mentioned there. I'm dubious about ice dancing. Why not ballroom dancing then? Perhaps we might develop this at some point in the Random Stuff thread. Enjoy Brazil when it starts.
Especially the football, eh Brum X?;) Is there any football this time? Last time the football teams had a maximum age limit so it was largely young players.

The way it's going most sports have their alternative world cup or similar. Athletics has its world championships for example. I preferred the Olympics when it was all amateur.

Did you know that in the Games from 1912 till 1948 there were competitions in architecture, literature, music, painting and sculpture that saw medals awarded? So you didn't have to be sporty to win a medal.

Well i didnt know that, maybe they should have a cooking competition and a gardening competition. Im sure they would be very popular, LOL
Looking forward to the start of the 2016 summer Olympic Games, a great 2 weeks of sport and fun. Just dont tell the Russians. ;-)

Yep me too. I've always wanted to go to Rio too so I'll get to see a bit more of it on the TV. The timings aren't going to be too good for watching it though.

A few years back, it must be more than 20 years ago. I remember it well, even one of the presenters. Our very own BBC midlands today host Mr Nick Owen. And all those Dan-air 737s before the days of easyjet. Awesome
A very sad day for Britain and bye bye EU and Dave;-(

Yes, I feel far from patriotic right now. The vote has split the country into two, quite literally potentially.

And a possible breakup of the United Kingdom.
Just seen BHX on city in the skies, we are famous for our "scary" landings. Thankfully that First Choice 767 is no longer in service.;-0

Its fine mate, i did it more to support the forum than to remove the ads. Im not bothered about the ads either way.

I'll have it sorted out soon, in fact if I can find the coding, it might be possible to create a toggle for premium members to choose if they wish to see the ads or not, hehe
England have not even kicked a ball yet, but England fans are already putting this country to shame. MORONS comes to mind.

It's why I'd never take my kids to a tournament. Such a shame for the genuine fans, especially if innocent people got caught up in it.

Im with you all the way on this one mate, im sending my postal vote back at the weekend and it will be 100% remain. What I would like to know is if we did Brexit (I hope we don't) what will UKIP be called then because they would of achieved there goal of getting UK independence ??

I think Farage used to be Conservative but even then there's a big chance we'll see them split after this. There's really little choice for those wanting to keep the status quo. The previous Labour government followed by the LibDem / Conservative and this Conservative government have been centre politics. I don't see how that can continue after Brexit.

As you say it will certainly make for an interesting couple of months after the result, whatever the result. And then its over the pond to the mighty USA for all that drama too. That's gonna be interesting too.
