  • I have a book called the Austerity Olympics about the post-WW2 London Games in 1948 and it was mentioned there. I'm dubious about ice dancing. Why not ballroom dancing then? Perhaps we might develop this at some point in the Random Stuff thread. Enjoy Brazil when it starts.
Especially the football, eh Brum X?;) Is there any football this time? Last time the football teams had a maximum age limit so it was largely young players.

The way it's going most sports have their alternative world cup or similar. Athletics has its world championships for example. I preferred the Olympics when it was all amateur.

Did you know that in the Games from 1912 till 1948 there were competitions in architecture, literature, music, painting and sculpture that saw medals awarded? So you didn't have to be sporty to win a medal.

Yep me too. I've always wanted to go to Rio too so I'll get to see a bit more of it on the TV. The timings aren't going to be too good for watching it though.

We've had them before haven't we? Didn't they film one at Gatwick a few years back?

A few years back, it must be more than 20 years ago. I remember it well, even one of the presenters. Our very own BBC midlands today host Mr Nick Owen. And all those Dan-air 737s before the days of easyjet. Awesome
A very sad day for Britain and bye bye EU and Dave;-(

Yes, I feel far from patriotic right now. The vote has split the country into two, quite literally potentially.

And a possible breakup of the United Kingdom.
Just seen BHX on city in the skies, we are famous for our "scary" landings. Thankfully that First Choice 767 is no longer in service.;-0

Its fine mate, i did it more to support the forum than to remove the ads. Im not bothered about the ads either way.

I'll have it sorted out soon, in fact if I can find the coding, it might be possible to create a toggle for premium members to choose if they wish to see the ads or not, hehe
