  • Saddened to read the passing away of Dalian Atkinson in a taser incident. Decent footballer.
Gold! Gold! Gold! Gold! Golden 90 minutes for Team GB. One more in the cycling to follow and possibly Andy Murray as well
almost forgot today is International Lefthanders Day.

I wonder how many left-handers we have on F4A. I'm right-handed in most things, although I do have some ambidexterity, but am one of those right-handed people who bats left-handed at cricket. Or did when I played.Holding a bat with a right-handed stance is unnatural to me.

Would be fun thing to find out. Parents were right handed - my dad was like you being left handed for cricket and hockey. Me and my brother were the opposite being lefties that are right handed for cricket. Work with a lot of lefties compared to the national average.
Wish I was free to see Pele - he's put on FB "See you next month in Bolton on Sept 17 (Whites Hotel) and Leeds on Sept 18 (Elland Road).
Blustery at Blackpool! 25 mph winds into face, gusting 30mph. Chipmunk & Memorial Flight didn't display but astonished the wingwalkers did!
Eventful evening yesterday. Left work 6pm. Arrived home after midnight by way of walk-in centre and A & E due to getting a bite on the ankle

I wish I knew! A few people at work have complained about being bitten but then I go out and about so may have been done on Saturday when I was near Chesterfield (Hardwick Hall to be precise) and it took a couple of days for it to manifest itself. Swelling and heat gone. No longer bright red skin but more a purplish one.
First photo commission today.. Do wonder if I've overpriced the fee...I'm charging £0.00

Couldn't charge one of my best mates!
With Brexit the convenient excuse to increase the rate of branch closures. Brexit certainly has to be a likely culprit when it comes to England failing to win anything since the 1966 World Cup.

My mum said she was voting for Brexit because the EU was closing the local Yorkshire Bank branch!
Well done Lloyds Bank. Close 200 branches whilst reporting £2.5 billion half-yearly pre-tax profits. Imagine if they had made losses?!
10 trips done in 10 days. Spent about £200 on travel + admissions. 77 miles walked + excellent destinations visited. But I don't drive!

Are you going to do us all an itinerary write-up in the travel forum?

I'll try to cobble something together under a working title of "10 days, 10 trips - a Staycationer's tale"

I'm looking forward to reading it, especially as it's a a budget. :)
Had an excellent daytrip to Penrith Castle, Aira Force waterfall & boat trip on a "steamer" from Glenridding to Pooley Bridge.

Scenery up there is spectacular. The only issue was that everywhere I went, people said it was beautiful weather up until Thursday and the forecast for Saturday onwards was better. It started raining quite heavily in Penrith for 10 to 15 minutes then frequent showers until I was about to set off from Aira Force when intermittent sun came out.
Another 11 miles walked, this time round Tatton Park. Wore my walking boots for 1st time this week and I've got blisters.
Just under 11 miles walked today. But not tired.

Went to Southport - arrived around 1.30pm so up to Hesketh Park covering almost every path and then back down to the promenade and just making it in time to walk down the pier. Normally go to the Botanic Garden which is a 1.5 miles further up the road from Hesketh Park but weather bit iffy in the morning meant travelling from lunchtime
today was meant to be trip to MAN southside for 1st time. Heavy rain = going Ordsall Hall instead. Slight difference in scenery!
6 days off work starting Friday so 10 day trips planned. Going here, there and everywhere: Anglesey furthest West, Penrith furthest North

Mostly going to be cloudy but hope I've got my trips and the weather nicely aligned. Tomorrow... it's the Yorkshire Air Museum I'm off to.
