I know it’s a strange comment Matt but isn’t it true that the airport says it’s negotiations,In talks,in discussions with different airlines?

Aren’t we a hello world airport. So doesn’t that mean we should say hello to new airlines and new routes expand our presence
Watching from the outside, as a big CWL supporter, I applaud your enthusiasm but find it a tad frustrating how impatient you are in regards to new routes and airlines

We at Cardiff would bite your hand off for a quarter of the offering you currently have at Birmingham.

Just enjoy the ride, be thankful of the multiple airlines and routes being served from your local airport currently and of course throw excitement when new routes & airlines get announced in the future.

I think if you had your way. BHX would have every airline and route being operated worldwide 😅
although it doesn’t work like that and patience is all part of the fun.

Just been looking at Birmingham airport UK based destination routes, I could only find four. Aberdeen, Glasgow, Inverness and Edinburgh. Why not fly to London City, Newcastle, Liverpool, Manchester, do we still fly to Exeter and Newquay.

GLA
EDI
INV
ABZ
IOM
LDY
JER
GCI

All served

MAN, LPL & LCY too close to BHX

NCL & NQY are the only other two which maybe ok

Belfast is in the UK with up to ten or more flights a day by EasyJet and Aer Lingus to two different airports.
MAN/LPL pure fantasy or if you prefer bankruptcy.
strange comment Ant? If the airport is attending i'm sure that will talk to as many airlines as they can, i'm sure they have a few in mind, but as we keep saying an event like this is just a chat, to secure new routes and airlines this can take months and years, and will envolve constant dialogue between the 2 parties.
Fear your comment Matt falls on stony ground ( not for the first time)some funny posts on here of late!

No one would fly from Liverpool or Manchester to Birmingham, its too close and there is a regular fast train .service.

However I would definitely use a LHR service. Did once many years ago with BD on a DC9. Quick up n down and you're there. Would never happen now but if it ever did....I would use it for sure 👌👌👌

I agree however increased airfield security times and faster trains havd really hit dome1stic air travel - certainly for journeys of less than 200 miles. If I recall correctly, the mileage used to calculate the MAN/LHR flight was 189. This was based on the actual flown distance.
Again, back in the late 1960s one could checkin for domestic flights just 10 minutes before scheduled departure. Haven't times changed - and not for the better either.

What we really want is for people to use their cars less and use public transport more. There wouldn't be a problem then on the A38. ;)

A nice hour-long sightseeing flight over London from the stack. ;)

Bring back Segways ;)

Yea well back in the day BMA flew to numerous domestic destinations linking to Heathrow. It was so much easier than now. I used them from LPL to LHR frequently.

Using cars to drive to Birmingham Airport?

I think i fill the category of people who probably do, living in Leominster in rural Herefordshire.

However i stopped driving there 20 years ago. Now, in just over two hours i can be inside the airport by using excellent rail facilities.

First, Leominster to Shrewsbury, then change for the Transport For Wales hourly service direct to Birmingham International.

A 'no brainer' when you consider a return rail ticket for about £25 is decidedly cheaper than seven or 14 days car park charges at the airport.

And the added bonus: safer and less stressful than overcrowded roads...

I am really surprised people don't use Birmingham International more...

Birmingham International being a mainline station with airport attached would have been ideal for virgin trains/Atlantic to of made a big thing of this years many ago …. But chap with beard said no !

We are only in Worcestershire, quite close to the M42, so a taxi to and from the airport only costs about £40 there and less in an Uber on the way home.

Whenever I am dropping friends or family, I always use the car park @ the station and take them on the monorail over to the airport to make sure they don't try to go directly through security!!

Int. station is so easy to get to for us driving or for anyone travelling from further afield like yourself.

The main problem with going by train via Heathrow or Gatwick is that, apart from infrequent direct services or a convoluted route, it involves getting from one London terminus to another - usually on the Underground!!

Rumour on dried fruit by a reliable poster that Air India gong to 777-300ER commencing August 2nd does anyone know anything?
They operated 777's in the past when running onwards to Toronto.

Yes, but those were 777-200s.

I mean, it'd be great to see but I would be surprised. Are they even filling the 787s enough to justify it?

This could be safety related as Air India management have had concerns about the 787 fleet since the crash last year. Some might be grounded for inspections.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
