The press release said 200 jobs. They are not all crew so some will be airport jobs. So yes they can cope with the extra aircraft.

Just a thought, but what if the aircraft is based here for the whole week, and Friday to Sunday flying is for Thomas Cooks. There's no reason why an independent airline like MON can not fly for two tour operators from the same airport.
Concorde lover. Those 36000+ plus pax who use the service and those amongst us who depend on it for their livelihood would disagree and are beginning to find your incessant negative comments and hatred of the airline a little tedious and immature, let alone harmful and damaging.
Some very bad figures on just about every destination. Did we have many diversions away for fog and wind in January. I know the snow did'nt come until Feb.
It looks like Jet2 have dropped their plans for operating Manchester to Istanbul. All references to it on their site have gone and the destination removed from the map and booking engine.
Re: Nostalgia Thread
Yes, there were a couple of British Caledonian BAC 1-11/500s diverted into LBA from MAN when they did the Gatwick schedule. Either late 80s or very early 90s.
I was in ATC that day and can confirm that the AF Concorde was cleared for a low and late go around to impress the 30,000 or so people who were there to watch! So no sensationalism or false reports or un-truths needed.
Re: British Midland International (BMI)
As you say Aviador, BMI have had slots before on this route and also to Munich and Hamburg. Nothing has ever come from them, either they were doing a temporary slot holding, or they are to be used from elsewhere and are hiding the application, which is...
Heather, I was the station manager for Astraeus in 2005/06 and had the FlyBe 737 based at LBA for Astraeus flights. I was never aware that we did any flights for Jet2 with it, as it was never spare or available as it had a demanding 7 day week 2/3 flights a day schedule for Airtours. The only...
Jersey has been operated through the winter from DSA by FlyBE for quite a few years now. Maybe it will be just a winter cutback as times are not too good for them at the moment and hopefully will return in the spring.
Re: Nostalgia Thread
Unfortunately I've never seen photos/videos. It was pre digital age, probably only 35mm stills or cine cameras, and definitely no mobile phones then. Things happened in those days without being recorded so we can only go by what we remember.
Re: Nostalgia Thread
You are correct that there were no departures from the then 28/10 later 27/09, but I do have a gut feeling one of the Air Anglia Fokker 28s departed 28. I once landed in a BMA Viscount on 28, which was quite an unpleasant approach and a relief to be down.
Re: Nostalgia Thread
As regards jets (airliners) using runway 27/09, or 28/10 as it was then.
Other jet airliners have used 28, very infrequently. I have seen Air Anglia use a Fokker F-28 for a landing on 28, and it did have passengers on. Also, a BAC 1-11 of BMA, (although it was the one that...
I believe it is all just spin really. You will find that every regional airport is in discussions with an airline to start a New York /Toronto/Orlando/Dubai flight. As is LBIA. It does'nt really mean anything other than the the marketing/PR departments are working hard. It costs nothing to talk...
