Heather, I was the station manager for Astraeus in 2005/06 and had the FlyBe 737 based at LBA for Astraeus flights. I was never aware that we did any flights for Jet2 with it, as it was never spare or available as it had a demanding 7 day week 2/3 flights a day schedule for Airtours. The only other FlyBE 737s that came in were, as has been said already, on FlyBe's own schedule from/to Exeter due to Dash 8 shortages. The aircraft based at LBA was owned and crewed by Astraeus. It just had not been repainted back into AEU colours after the BE lease ended. Hope this helps.

Certainly does eastcoaster, many thanks for clearing that up, and sadly I was given duff information at the time. Sorry tomleeds for telling you something that clearly wasn't right, but its nice to know now what that aircraft was doing at the time.

It's not a problem White Heather. I was thinking along the same lines as I always thought it operated for either FlyBe or Jet2. I forgot that Astreaus did a lot of work after MyTravel pulled their based aircraft out of LBA.

I do miss MyTravel, I always thought they were a good airline! :cry:

So what about the dropped route rumour I wonder? If it is Exeter, does that mean that Aberdeen might get sorted out to become a proper service and possibly passed over to Loganair to operate?

Exeter, Belfast, Aberdeen and Southampton still showing, Bergerac is showing via Southampton at the moment.

Flybe’s new Knock – Ireland West route from Leeds/Bradford will commence operation from March 27th not May 5th as previously rumoured before today’s official confirmation. The 3x weekly service will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays using Dash 8-Q400 aircraft

The good news is that they are not planning on axeing any of there other routes which operate from Leeds/Bradford to Aberdeen, Belfast City, Exeter & Southampton.

Timetable is as follows

Tuesday & Thursdays
BE397 = KNK 11:30 LBA 12:55
BE398 = LBA 13:35 KNK 15:00

Sundays
BE397 = KNK 16:00 LBA 17:25
BE398 = LBA 18:05 KNK 19:30

That is good news!

Lets hope the route is a success!

Is this being operated by an Exeter/Southampton based aircraft then?

Tomleeds

It looks like it will have to be operated by a Edinburgh or Manchester based aircraft on a w-leg through Knock. As these are currently the only 2 routes that flybe operate through Knock at present using Dash 8's

That's a great result getting Knock back. I use to see about 70-80 punters getting off the Ryanair's, so a DH8/4 should be an ideal replacement.

Good to see Knock back but I would not expect to see 70-80 pax on each flight. There will be a smaller number of "cheap" seats available so I would not necessarily declare it a raving success just yet.

Does anyone know if FlyBe have altered the arrangements for the exeter flight this evening as my wife is booked on it. Its showing as leaving Exeter approx 1hr 20 mins late at 1605 but doesn't say it's delayed as such, it's as if it's scheduled at that time - the aberdeen leg is showing as arriving at LBA about an hour late at 2030 yet the LBA departures is still showing 1955 as normal. Any info much appreciated, thanks.

Hi

Just had it confirmed that the new flybe Knock-Leeds-Knock service will be operated as a w-leg with a Manchester based Dash 8-Q400 Aircraft. As the Manchester to Knock schedule has just been changed to fit in the Leeds flights.

As of 23rd March, Flybe will end the daily ABZ-LBA flight on the Q400, but continue LBA-EXT on a separate 6 weekly flight

To add insult to injury, the flight has moved over to MAN, with MAN-ABZ going from 4-5 daily.

Where does this leave LBA then?

Do we lose any routes as a result, or just frequency?

It looks from the Flybe summer timetable that there will now be a Exeter-LBA-Exeter rotation 6 x weekly but not carrying on to Aberdeen.

Aberdeen will still be served by Eastern.

Hows that an Insult user001?

It's not like it wasn't unexpected for flybe to drop the Aberdeen link sooner rather than later to most of use on here. There Passengers numbers have been on a sliding slop for quite a while now...

To me its more like flybe can't compete on the Leeds-Aberdeen route with Eastern Airways now operating it 3x daily using Dash 8's and also offering competitive pricing against a 5x weekly service that flybe was/are offering

Because:

1) they have directly replaced their LBA capacity at MAN. Its not as if the sector has been dropped completely, its moved across as Flybe obviously see more money in operating the same flight over the hill.

2) regardless of whether it was 'expected' or 'the route is still served', this is still a loss of service on a route, something I would assume LBA do not want, whether its a 5 weekly service or 5 daily service, especially with passenger figures once again heading south for the winter? Any loss is still a loss, unless my maths is once again playing up?

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
