Today is a good day to be at the Airport. 2 x Silkway 74F flights on the ground at the same time (1 from Baku and 1 from Chicago). On a separate note one of the Wedgetails has broken cover from STS and is just lining up on the runway for a flight.

Looking at their website, they do offer a number of destinations which all feed into Baku for their network of flights. I would say that there a very high chance that most of the cargo we see here at BHX is originating in China (probably Temu / Shein etc).

No idea who the Maersk flights are operating for but as they seem to be originating in China (as does everything nowadays or so it seems) I would be tempted to say it is all bits and pieces for a well known Chinese retailer! I do recall seeing more EVRI vehicles coming in and out of the Airport...

I can only hope we do see some development, but where that will be is anyone's guess. If Hangar 2 came down the site could be re-developed (but that would cost an absolute fortune bearing in mind the amount of asbestos), but that is only a small area. Whilst there is still space for Swissport...

No idea on the MNG flights but there does seem to have been a slowdown on the freighters in general. I know we have been seeing the Silkway flights but they certainly seem to have been less often than previous months.

I cant answer about Silkway and Maersk but can confirm that the EK freighters are moving to MAN from 1st June. They may be moving to STN later on in the Year (but no timetable confirmed as yet). Ah well, it was nice while it lasted!

I think you will find the flight from last Thursday had horses on board which need a Border Inspection Point (BIP) which we do not have a BHX. This justifies the stop at STN prior to coming up to BHX. How long these flights will be coming into BHX for I do not know. I am just grateful to see...

If it follows the same timetable as LHR operations it should be 2 x weekly with 77F (Thursday & Saturday). We will just have to wait and see what happens.

I have heard that the LHR freighter flights are being re-routed to BHX due to slot issues. I believe the flight today is routing via STN but Saturdays should be coming direct to BHX.

Most Shipping Lines have diverted their services around Africa (not all but most) meaning an extra 7-10 days on transit times with increased charges accordingly. Whilst not the best situation (especially for getting goods to the Middle East) it still works out cheaper than moving by Airfreight...

Please bear in mind that there is more to BHX "turning away" business than just letting the Aircraft land. If the infrastructure for handling the flight is not there (manpower / equipment etc) then the unloading / re-loading would be delayed which will cast a shadow on what BHX can offer service...
