    Birmingham Airport Cargo Operations

Today is a good day to be at the Airport. 2 x Silkway 74F flights on the ground at the same time (1 from Baku and 1 from Chicago). On a separate note one of the Wedgetails has broken cover from STS and is just lining up on the runway for a flight.

    Birmingham Airport Cargo Operations

Looking at their website, they do offer a number of destinations which all feed into Baku for their network of flights. I would say that there a very high chance that most of the cargo we see here at BHX is originating in China (probably Temu / Shein etc).

    BHX Movements and Heads Up

No idea who the Maersk flights are operating for but as they seem to be originating in China (as does everything nowadays or so it seems) I would be tempted to say it is all bits and pieces for a well known Chinese retailer! I do recall seeing more EVRI vehicles coming in and out of the Airport...

    BHX Movements and Heads Up

I can only hope we do see some development, but where that will be is anyone's guess. If Hangar 2 came down the site could be re-developed (but that would cost an absolute fortune bearing in mind the amount of asbestos), but that is only a small area. Whilst there is still space for Swissport...

    Birmingham Airport Cargo Operations

No idea on the MNG flights but there does seem to have been a slowdown on the freighters in general. I know we have been seeing the Silkway flights but they certainly seem to have been less often than previous months.

    BHX Movements and Heads Up

I cant answer about Silkway and Maersk but can confirm that the EK freighters are moving to MAN from 1st June. They may be moving to STN later on in the Year (but no timetable confirmed as yet). Ah well, it was nice while it lasted!

    Emirates

These flights were open for general sale (as they would have been if they operated out of LHR). The problem is with only 2 x 77F flights per week there are shipments which cannot wait for either a Thursday or Saturday. There are also times when a shipment does not require a freighter as the...

    Emirates

I hope not! I much prefer having the 777 available for freight. An example is a recent shipment of just under 9000 Kgs which moved in one hit on the 038. This would not have been possible with a 380 on the route especially if the flight was full (bags for 615 passengers have got to go...

    Birmingham Airport Cargo Operations

I think you will find the flight from last Thursday had horses on board which need a Border Inspection Point (BIP) which we do not have a BHX. This justifies the stop at STN prior to coming up to BHX. How long these flights will be coming into BHX for I do not know. I am just grateful to see...

    BHX Movements and Heads Up

This is covered in the Cargo thread for BHX. Its the normal freighter into LHR which (I am led to believe due to a slot issue) will be operating into BHX along with the regular Saturday flights for a while. How long it will be for I do not know. This flight is operating via STN but the others...

    Birmingham Airport Cargo Operations

If it follows the same timetable as LHR operations it should be 2 x weekly with 77F (Thursday & Saturday). We will just have to wait and see what happens.

    Birmingham Airport Cargo Operations

I have heard that the LHR freighter flights are being re-routed to BHX due to slot issues. I believe the flight today is routing via STN but Saturdays should be coming direct to BHX.

    Birmingham Airport Cargo Operations

Most Shipping Lines have diverted their services around Africa (not all but most) meaning an extra 7-10 days on transit times with increased charges accordingly. Whilst not the best situation (especially for getting goods to the Middle East) it still works out cheaper than moving by Airfreight...

    Birmingham Airport Cargo Operations

Hi Kevin. Yes that includes the belly cargo on such carriers as EK / QR / SV / TUI etc. It also includes any cargo received at BHX to transfer to LHR / MAN etc. As you say the only alternative would be to build more facilities but this is not the "Field of Dreams". If you build it you have got...

    Birmingham Airport Cargo Operations

Please bear in mind that there is more to BHX "turning away" business than just letting the Aircraft land. If the infrastructure for handling the flight is not there (manpower / equipment etc) then the unloading / re-loading would be delayed which will cast a shadow on what BHX can offer service...

Parking at Elmdon site for Spotters

I think you will find that MOST of the Elmdon site either has parking restrictions or double yellow lines. Bearing in mind how close you are to the Ramp (which is part of the attraction I know) then the Police have never been shy in either asking questions or moving drivers on. As for the...

Parking at Elmdon site for Spotters

Please note that the "NO PARKING" signs are now showing on Forward Road. No physical tickets will be issued, instead a Penalty Notice would be sent out through the Mail. There is still a visitors space at the side of Forward House and a small amount of Visitors spaces at the rear of the building...

Daily Direct Link from BHX to the US

Bingo! We have a winner. Why on earth would an Airline put a route in place without knowing that they can make money on it? At the end of the day it is a business and they exist to make money. If the need is not there no Airline will put valuable resources in place knowing that they will not...

Parking at Elmdon site for Spotters

That all depends on when you are here. As mentioned there are two spaces at the side of the building and a small area at the back of Forward House. These are designed for visitors to the building so may already be in use. If you come after 1500 hrs then MAD catering may have left for the day...

Parking at Elmdon site for Spotters

As you are aware the Elmdon site has the Multi Storey Car Park available for parking. There is also a small number of Visitor spaces around Forward House (next to the MSCP). Whilst it has been a very relaxed attitude to parking around Forward House this will be changing very soon. As regular...
