This may have already been posted or be common knowledge but in case it's not a commemorative fly past is being arranged for 609 Sqn, an RAF Squadron now based at RAF Leeming which was formed 80 years ago at Leeds Airport.
I believe it will consist of a fly past of 3 hawks at 1230 on the 10th...
The LHR shuttle reached its 3rd birthday on Wednesday.
After the initial teething trouble I think it does very nicely with its 3/day offering and all the flights operate with decent load factors theses days. In September they go through the roof.
We'd all like a nightstop but I'm very proud...
Hi Heather
Both flights were nice and busy but not to the extent that it required the equipment upgrade. Must have just suited the a/c planners to send it today
I'm aware of the LHR sponsored marketing and it looks terrific all over T5!
Regards
Those interested in these things may like to know that a sharklet equipped 320 G-EUYY is down to operate the middle shuttle today BA1342/3
Not sure if LBA has see a BA 'sharkletted' 320 before?
Big delay on today's 1342/1343 as with everyone boarded on schedule the aircraft went tech and a replacement had to be found. The only one they cold find was still inbound from another station so the whole thing turned into quite a lengthy delay.
Flight was nice and busy which is good. Hope...
Those ex-bmi hulls are based at LGW now. It must be up at HQ temporarily to cover for maintenance I wld guess.
G-DBCI did the inaugural service 30 months ago when those a/c formed the LHR T1 319 fleet. Seems an age ago now!
Remarkable dedication KARFA :-)
Thanks for your dedication and for using it regularly. Thanks to everyone who uses it in fact, be it once or weekly, you all help.
I think I have made 6 journeys / month since it commenced, it has been a marvellous addition to the LBA portfolio.
Doing nicely is...
I am pleased to say that the figures for the last 2-3 weeks have been outstanding.
The route is doing great just now. Running 2/day in Mar was a mistake that hopefully won't be repeated.
Which is precisely why I am saying that the government if it approves their 3rd runway shd put some provisos in place mandating that some of the additional capacity is used to serve the regions.
From a political/economic pov it's a no brainer really
3/day works fine and without a nightstop BA have, to be fair, got this working very nicely.
Optimum schedule (given no nightstop)
Reliable
Cheap (IMO)
T5
Additional domestic gates at T5 sorted so rarely met by buses.
Loads reflect all this but this temporary 2/day carry in is most unwelcome...
